Notice how the strider has the same logo as the combine dude? Maybe they are controlled by them in some sorta way?

Yeah the strider isn't a creature. Its a vehicle manned by a member of the combine. Gabe mentioned how they once played with riding in it just for fun.....

the strider is a creature, not a vehicle, but they did a version of the strider where you will be able to use it as a player model, thats what they meanth with that its not a actual vehicle

i have two FACTS to add to this.


1. The strider is part of the combine (confirmed in email from valve)


2. The flying thing with the big gun is called the ALIEN GUNSHIP (confirmed in another email from valve)




my opinions:

combine are human in part, but not all of the combine are human. I think the combined forces. But also in cases have cross breeds ala screan shots from concept art on plannet half life.

That could mean that its a vehical manned by a combine member OR that it could mean that it is part of the combine but is some kind of alien OR it could even mean that it is a combination of the two. no one knows but valve (and those lucky bastards that play test )


and yes the email did said they made it into a vehicle for fun. Not as part as the game. Thats all. You wont get to drive it in game as far as i know.

The combine is probably a coalition of aliens and humans. The combine soldiers don't seem alien in any way, not like we'd know unless they were helmetless but that's what it looks like. They probably just work with the aliens.

It seems to me that the Combine just runs around assimilated other races into one big-ass race. Not unlike the zerg, but they dont mutate them and stuff.

Look at the strider. It's built-in beam cannon thing seems plausible for a big alien, but it has a MACHINE GUN! So it looks like the human race is the new target for the Combine, and they already started incorporating our technology into their troops. Maybe Xen is a target too, and that's why they're on Gordon's side?

Yes, I think you are right. Afterall, it was the Nihilath who said "we are their slaves" in HL1. He also said "you all are theifs" - on the official VU website it describes an "alien-infested Earth being picked to the bone, its resources depleted, its populace dwindling. " Looks like Xen is under their control and now they are after Earth.
