 gotta love the dutch, the rest of the world looks like ultra-conservative puritans in comparison

"A television presenter on a new Dutch talk show plans to take heroin and other illegal drugs on air in a program intended to reach young audiences on topics that touch their lives, producers said Wednesday.

The show, scheduled to premier on late-night television Oct. 10, is called "Spuiten & Slikken," or the "Shoot Up and Swallow" show" ..

The Shoot Up & Swallow show's main hostess will interview guests about drug use and abuse, while Wesselink and another presenter will carry out in-the-field experiments with sex and drugs."
[dream job?]

BNN has drawn viewer complaints for programs in the past, including a sex education program called "This Is How You Screw." One segment discussed how to have sex in a nightclub and featured life-size mannequins with sex organs." [is this show available on cable?]

I suspect the show will degrade into the host bingeing on moonpies and twinkies

Haha, those crazy dutch.
But i guess its the best way to learn about stuff. Just watch someone else do it, if they get hurt, then you dont do it :P

Wtf is moonpie anyway?

BTW : This is in the Netherlands, where everyone is addicted to something :p

When will this video be released on the internet for all to see?

It's gotta be some kind of awesome.

Which is why Dutch people should be locked up before they harm humanity even more. :p

edit: It also begs the question as to where the morals and limits of Holland's government, media and people actually are?

Dutch people are great, they may hold some different views on things, but it's still a great place to go.

lol, ofcourse the intention of 1 Dutch guy counts for the whole country :D

Filemon Wesselink is a typical attention seeker in his TV shows. He tries to annoy as many people as possible. The ony thing he hadn't done yet is this, and voila there you have it: the Dutch are crazy, Holland's morals are ridiculous, etc.

It sounds like it could put hairs on your chest.

Well it's akin to Channel 4 doing the live autopsy, both are on the limits of decency.

This is a nice way of attracting attention to a new series. But another show called 'the sperm show' (don't ask) was banned before its release, as I suspect this will happen with the shoot up and swallow show as well.

So we can be conservative, as well!! :D

Way to use a broadbrush there, Razor. Really well done. They have different, more relaxed attitude towards sex and drugs in that country and all of a sudden they're moral degenerates?
You do realise that it's the stereotypical stuffy "no sex please, we're British" attitude that has led us to the dubious distinction of highest teenage pregnancies in the whole of Europe? So being a bit more open about it is a Good Thing. Also, I believe they have a lower mortality rate due to drug abuse, and this I think could also be explained, at least in part, by the slightly more relaxed, informed attitude taken with drugs.

I'm not saying it's right or wrong to do drugs on TV, but who knows, if he has a bad reaction, perhaps it'll put people off? If he has a good time, then will it encourage people? It's possible.

To be honest, if it does corrupt and destroy the Netherlands' already skewed version of Right and Wrong and send them into a spiral of moral decay, then who cares!? They're only Dutch, right? :hmph:

I have known for quite a while that Channel 4 has absolutely no morals what so ever...i mean, look at Big Brother.

hey c'mon we even have our own political killings nowadays, that has to count for something!
Pfeh. We Belgians are working on a full-scale annihallation of a political party. Flemish Block, to be exact.

EDIT : USING PUPPIES!

awesome, more power to em. One of my best friend is on a year of foreign exchange to the Netherlands, he's already been partying :p

Drugs should be illegal and they should be seriously frowned upon but people should be allowed to be able to talk about them and get help from getting off them.

Having a tv show where the presenters use drugs and have sex and show people how to have sex in nightclubs and other public places though is disgusting and just helps to degenerate society down to a bunch of drugged up, sex addicts screwing in public.

Like El Chi mentioned, there is always something good about talking openly about things in society. Whether it's good to actually show these things on TV is open for debate. But ignoring the facts is much more dangerous.

To me, showing every day reality is much more effective than speculating about it or DIY experiments.

oh come on ..by that logic tv shows like Cops help degenrate society because it shows shirtless people fleeing from police

You know, i did mean the whole "all Dutch people should be locked up" in a slightly sarcastic way, sorry for forgetting the smilie :(.

Anyway, it is a disgusting show and a disgusting idea and it is great that politicians and the people are complaining. Anyway, they aren't really doing anything that hasn't been done before so there is really no need to do it again...the documentary about the effects of lsd on British troops which was filmed about 50years ago would be a much more eye opening and trustworthy source of information then some chatshow.

the effects of lsd on British troops
Haha I loved that documentary.
"After (Don't remember) hours the commanders became incapable of directing their unit."

you have to learn to "live and let live"

frankly I dont care what they do on their show, they're consenting adults they can make their own choices ..and yes it actually serves a purpose ..heroin abuse is a real problem in that neck of the woods

I don't care what they do in the privacy of their own bedrooms or what drugs they take in the privacy of their own bedrooms, they are consenting adults and do have the right to make decisions, even if those decisions are bad ones. As long as it doesn't effect other people, they have that right...however, doing it a tv show that is beamed out to hundreds of thousands of people, up into the millions probably as well, isn't doing it in your bedroom and it will effect people watching, in both good ways and bad ways.

Yes, but if you take severe offense to such a program, do not watch it.
And don't judge a whole nation on the basis of one setting-out-to-shock-as-many-people-as-possible TV show. Plus, don't assume that it'll lead to the vast corruption of an entire nation.

And that's that.

Because you can't say that every show only has a negative or a postive side.

Meh, at any rate, it'll be more accurate than Trainspotting.

As long as they don't glamourise it and take a serious and objective point of view on the show.

It'd be terrible if it was like one of those crazy japanese shows: "How much heroin can he take before he passes out! Vote now!"

I'm not judging an entire nation, just a tv channel, producers, directors, advertisers, etc who would support the showing of such a tv programs that show how to have sex in public places and take drugs.

people are not sponges. They wont be easily influenced by one show ..the only valid point you have here is the drug use ...but only if it's illegal in that particular country. People do have a right to know what the effects of drugs are ...just look it as an educational show :)

and the sex thing ...they didnt show the act of sex they told people how to do it in public ..I dont see the harm in that :naughty: ..you've never done it in public? ..fun

Well....i suppose it might be a little fun to do it out in the open or do it where you might get caught but doing it in a crowded nightclub is just seedy and disgusting.

And if you really think there aren't people out there who will suddenly think "wow, shit...i need to get me high on heroine after seeing it on tv"...well... Some people are sheep, some people need proof that they can understand and trust and some people just take everyone as lying scumbags apart from the people that agree with their point of view.

but that's only your opinion ..somehow I dont think they're advocating you do it in the middle of the dance floor

oh come on, I bet there's very few cases of people trying heroin without having tried anything else first ..this is heroin we're talking about the average person wouldnt know what to do with it if they were given a bit of powder, a spoon, and a syringe. Would you know what to do with it? I wouldnt

and yes people are sheep (support for the iraq war anyone?) but that doesnt mean theyll rush out and try heroin just because they saw it on tv ..if that were true there'd be fatalities from falling from high places everytime "Smallville" is aired

Dilate (sp?) the powder in vinegar, put mix in spoon, heat spoon, put mix in syringe, find a nerve and shoot :p

Haven't done it yet (never will too :p), but had to read a book that told that.

well I just ruined $100 worth of heroin by not putting in vinegar ...see razor, most people (beerdude being the exception) wouldnt know how to do it even if they were showed how

theGreenBunny is from the Netherlands, and he's one of the biggest legends I've ever met.

Nothing to do with the topic at hand, but I thought I might mention it.
