So I heard about this game. It sounded really intriguing and original. I was thrilled to find out more about it. Then I saw what it looked like.

"An ASCII game? No thanks", I thought. However there was still a twinge of interest left so I downloaded all 4 mb of it and tried to start playing. The concept behind the game is that you begin with seven dwarfs who you can indirectly control. In a sense it's a bit of an RTS. You give the dwarfs tasks and jobs and they carry them out depending on their mood. With these dwarfs you build yourself a fort inside the mountain.

The tunnels in the screenshot above are areas built inside the mountain. Using miners you set areas you want to carve out and then they go about it. The game is intensely deep once you get the hang of it, although the learning curve is immense. The first time I played I pretty much gave up. I tried to place a bed in the middle of the forest but I didn't realize I needed a carpenter and wood and a carpentry wookshop first.

The second time I was a lot more successful. I took a bunch of suggestions from the Wiki. Soon I was building my own farms and all that jazz. So go try it out if you are smart enough.http://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/

I actually made a thread about this just about a week ago, its a very fun game but with a steep learning curve, I've been playing it since the first release in August 2006.:)
