Ok im planning on going but im on the site and i dont know if im reading this right but the tickets for admission are like $500+ Am i missing something or is that the price. I really want to go just want to plan ahead and have all the info. So ya can anyone that has info or has gone before help me out :)

as far as I know it's basically, invite only.... like industry peeps and friends.

Well technically to go to E3 you're supposed to be connected in some way to the videogame industry. You get invited usually, thus the preventative price.

yep just double checked, from the site:

E3 2006 Attendee Registration
"Welcome to Attendee Registration. Please note that E3 is a trade-only event and is not open to the general public. You must be part of the interactive entertainment industry in order to attend the show, and you must be able to provide documentation demonstrating your direct and current professional affiliation in this industry"

wow i wouild never pay that much to go anywhere lol. But im only 17 so i dont know about you guys.

That said, you can have a really sketchy connection. In my last job I was eligible for all those trade shows, although I never had the time or cash to get to one.

Well. I heard there was a exhibit floor for like the reg people.

Yes it's 500 bucks to get a ticket just for a 3 day show floor...

A lot of people try to find a way to connect themselves to the games industry, so they get in free.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure spending $500 is a good choice... EVERYONE has been bitchin' lately about how there's just so many pure-gamers, and it really sort of ruins the point of the event... It's supposed to be a trade-event, and not a public showing. It takes hours to walk across the show floors, the noise is extreme, everything is packed to the walls, and it's apparently just not turning into a good experience.

I really think they need to set up a few days where it's TRUELY industry only, because this is where people try to get jobs, show off their work to get publishers, etc etc and that is hindered by their being so many people there. That's more of a ranting than anything :p

I got the invite to this months ago (like back in November or earlier), but I really don't have a real reason to go (sure it would be cool, but I get all the info back at home, and I don't crowd the show floor)

I'm not that interested in this years E3..
I'm hoping for some new Alan Wake info perhaps, and STALKER to be showed off, but that's about it..
Far more hyped about next years E3, when we will hopefully see the first screens of Bethesda's Fallout 3 <3

Wow! With the Rev and the PS3 being unveiled (properly) for the first time ever and what is sure to be a great slew of games for each, I can't imagine not being excitied as heck for this one! Not to mention what will probably be some amazing demos for upcoming PC titles. (Titan Quest is one that my eye is on right now and it looks sweet! I also want to hear more about the great adventure titles coming to the PC later this year!)

:O
Armed Assault!
Spore!
Prey!
Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter! (PC)
Quake Wars!

Well, you make some good points, Spore is definitely on my list.
ArmA.. Are you sure it won't release before E3?
Game2(Operation Flashpoint 2), now that I wanna see more off..
Also, VictimOfScience, the PS3, meh, Rev, seems sort off interesting.:)
But I'm definitely less excited about this E3 then I have been about previous ones.:)

Well the whole thing about E3 is it lets you know which titles to be excited about by showcasing them. You won't know what you want to see until you go look around, thats the point.

I went last year and the year before. It was a total blast! I don't think I'll be able to go this year though because of a more intense school schedule. If you want, I can post some pics that I took from last years E3.

wouldn't you be connected to the game industry if you bought games?
