Hi!

New to the forums and I just have a few questions for you all. Myself *like most of you* am upgrading my pc so i can play hl2 to the fullest extent. My question is this... I just downloaded the 650 meg *22 minute* video of the gameplay/physics etc etc trailer for the game... What system specs did the E3 machines have to demo the game for everyone?

ON THE POSSIBILTY OF A DELAY...

So what? I think we all know that valve is fairly competent and judging by skidmarks visit to valve, they seem fairly dedicated to their fans. Knowing this, if the game does end up delayed, dont you think the wait will be worth it? Good things come to those who wait.

Valve has been using a Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb card in most their test systems. Not sure bout the rest of the specs.

these issues have already been discussed, u can use the search option.

i honestly dont remeber or i would tell u.

Gabe said in an interview that a Dell XPS with a Pentium IV 3 Ghz was utilized along with a Radeon 9800 Pro 128

I heard they talk about high definition pack for hl2 which requires 256mb videocard, is it true?? I hope not, cuz i still don't have enough money to buy ati 9800 256mb, but i have enough for the 9800 128mb.

Well that would be just stupid...most gamers that have 9800 Pros have the 128 one...wouldn't make much sense for Valve to isolate such a large percentage of their fan base like that. My guess is it's built into the regular version, but can only be utilized with a high definition monitor or plasma screen, like the one used at E3.

there is a definate possiblity, but i think 128mb cards could handle it. by the time we need 256mb video cards we will be using BTX form with PCI-X vid cards. dont waste your money on 256 right now unless u absolutly have to. the 128mb version do nearly as well and sometimes better than the 256. no game right now or near the future can properly take advantage of 256mb's and make a notable difference(20-30fps).

Why do people always think that a user is better if he post more? Some of the users that has over a couple of hundred posts has nothing good to say. Quality > Quantity.

The answer to rankings is spam. If you choose your topics and post infrequetly then you're gonna end up a headcrab for a while. But if you spam a thread all day you'll soon go up in the rankings.

Hmmm .. Spam you say? ;)

And that's me done.

I thought Gabe said in one of his interviews that the system used to run the E3 demos had a Geforce 4 (which is why we didn't see a lot of DX9 features in those videoes). Could be wrong, though.

delete this thread plz... its going from bad to worse ;(

Ha ha ha ha, most definatly wrong. It was a Dell XPS 3Ghz with a Radeon 9800 Pro 128 MB as stated above.
