E3s getting close.....

Spiffae, I'm pretty sure it uses the Unreal engine used with UT2004.

really? damn.

i thought i was onto something.

Unreal Engine? Seriously? They've done a good job in totally reversing the rendering style of the Engine then if it is.

looks more like quake3 engion. definately not source though.

Maybe Far Cry engine. It would fit to a massive Normandy scene, or Stalingrad. Allthough I don't know if the engine can create 50,000 men fighting each other.

i think brothers in arms is a source engine title.... just you wait and see.

looks like source, gearbox is an ex-partner of valve's, gearbox is being "tight-lipped on technical details"

EDIT: If these don't look like the source engine, I don't know what does.

it really makes the game sound like a step up from those generic ww2 games (MOH, CoD, etc.)

The wires in the pic seem to be brush work since they seem to be segmented. If you look at the wires in the hl2 videos they aren't brushes but seem to be physics objects made up of much smaller segments.

It looks like Source.. and Q3 engine to me. The faces definately look high quality like Source though.

I don't think anyone would start a game with Quake3 engine anymore, especially WW2 game. I know it has been used in some of the most recent games like CoD, but there's no point in start developing a game with the Q3 engine with a release date for 2004 or maybe 2005 in mind. When there's titles like Pacific Assault coming out in possibly few months, and when the whole FPS genre is supposed to have a face-lift in the mighty year of the Dx9 cards 2004, the Q3 engine will remain a great engine of it's own time but it won't stretch anymore and has to step aside from the next generation engines.

stalker will show off dx9 renderer and multiplayer at least. "
..and the multiplayer mode will be available at E3" http://www.gameplanet.co.nz/mag.dyn/Previews/4073.html

read somewhere that carmack and (I think) willits of id software will talk about some stuff on a couple of conferences at e3, hope they say something about doom3. releasedate? hope so :smoking:

LOL three days after the E3 is my final year exam. That is Cool

/me is Lucky.

I share the same hopes as you cadaver about a possible Doom3 release date announcement. Carmack said it was "really close to shipping" last time he was asked so I would expect a release date announcement. Actually I'll be quite disappointed if nothing is said on it.

what you don't have a computer lab/computer class at school?....last year i checked on e3 all throughout the schoolday

id has said that Quake 4 is basically just a showcase of the engine--no heavy design stuff or anything, so you're probably right (especially considering that they initially planned a Q2 remake).
Didn't id give Q4 to raven so it wouldn't just be a remake...because id was too busy on doom 3
