Early render of my first model

I'm working on a ship for a potential mod based on space piracy. My roomates and I just got into modeling, though I had dabbled a little before. This is really my first big project though. I still need to add details like weapons and texture it, but the concept is pretty much there. Let me know what you think of it so far.

looks quite nice. but if it is for a mod then it will probs need more detail.

wats poly count?

Poly count looks pretty high  ... at least in the 3-5 thousand range, if not more (decent for a final model, but dangerously curvy for an early model).

If the spaceship is something you'll encounter in 1st person, like when it's parked, then you have to transfer the detail from the curves to the actual details, so that it seems more lifelike and "knobby". Take a look at real military vehicles, and you'll see how much detail they need in order to look "realistic"... what I mean is, completely smooth vehicles look like "video game vehicles"...

It's a good start so far... but for when you finish it, you might want to pop some detail around the "key, human areas" of the vehicle, like the cockpit, entrances, and landing gears areas, as well as perhaps wires and antennas on top and sides perhaps, or wherever you expect the player to see more of.

Remember, it's the attention to detail that brings something from "blah" to "amazing".

looks good but i think it needs optimisation to reduce the poly count
