Nintendo's Wii may get early launch
"Indeed, the company appears to be already manufacturing final retail units of the Wii, according to a June 21st analyst's note from P.J. McNealy of American Technology Research. That would give it a significant head start over Sony (Charts), which has yet to begin final manufacturing of the PlayStation 3."

Anything new on ssb brawl?

I think the official word at the moment is November 6th for the UK which would reach stores before the PS3.

And nothing has been heard of Brawl since the supposed Ridley, Cel-Link and Mini-Bowser announcement.

Yeah, I'd love to see an early launch. Hopefully Twilight Princess will be there on release!!

We know that TW(GC), TW(Wii) & Wii all launch on the same day. :dork:

Oooh, that'll push A LOT of systems right into A LOT of living rooms, bedrooms, Escalades, etc! An A+++ title at launch? Yeah, Wii ftw.

I wouldn't really call that a huge advantage, I mean it's a Gamecube game being slapped onto the new controller, big deal. From the impressions I've heard the way they use it in Zelda is a bit gimmicky.

It's a great game to have at launch but it's about like saying "God of War 2 is a PS3 launch title" because it can be played on a PS3.

understatement of the year, ya ?

i hope it does, that way it will have an advantage on the ps3 which sadly will sell no matter how pathetic it is.

Early Wii launch?

Are Nintendo suffering from incontinence?

yay! best gaming news I've heard in a while. I hope it comes out in september or october. Otherwise "early" by a few days is nothing at all. I think the wii will be the first system that I will ever buy on the first day.

Cool, I ain't getting it right away though. I'll wait to make sure there are really great games coming out for it...because right now there's none that I'm excited about...

Look, having a Zelda title, let alone this Zelda title ready for launch alongside a new system with an innovative and fun control-scheme just makes perfect sense. It'll sell units whether we like it or not.

Something to note: the Wii's controller scheme cannot be "gimmicky" because that is the main interface.
I can understand if it is being "slapped" on as a secondary add-on, but that is not the case. Twilight was delayed to make specific use of the feature as a launch title. It is a Wii launch title now and a "downgraded" version is being made available for GC owners so they are not left out in the cold.

I'd love a release earlier than Winter, but for this baby I'm prepared to give it time.

I've been waiting for Twilight Princess for a loooooooooong time.... and the Wii just looks fantabulous.

With 16 titles already confirmed for launch and more on the way, Wii looks to be the biggest launch of a Nintendo system in history.
Yea, what they said.

Mario, Zelda, Metroid all ****ing launch titles, plus 13 other games? All with a console price tag of a toy.

Crungraturations. :bows:

Instant wiinner.

I might have to actually get one of these. I think that is something almost all of us can agree on. :)

I hope they bring back Punch-Out, Waverace, and F-Zero, but I don't want them to just re-make them just for the sake that they own these franchises, I'd hope that they can do these games justice, and once again make them some of the best games ever made. I was disappointed with the gamecube versions of 2 of them, and that they never created a GC Punch-Out.

I think Punch-Out with the controller would be fun. Fat lazy Americans could use a good work-out. =P

If they do re-make these games, I wonder if they would make some of these like Punch-out, F-Zero, and Wave-Race on-line multi-player. That would mean the overwhelming success of this system for the next decade, in my opinion.

It would be real fun to fight other people on-line. Punch-Out has always been single-player because of the way the game is designed, but I can't see why it wouldn't play great on-line.

Wiicked!

Nintendo's Wiizardry with Wiilease dates is making my wiinky grow :E.

and my Wiinky, I mean penis.

Great news :) I can't wait to be playing Zelda with the wiimote.

This is more than anyone can bear, but Wii will per-se-vere. :sniper:

//edit

while i'm here - This months edge has a tiny bit on the sequal to Trauma Centre (Second Opinion). There's very little info other than it's coming out on the Wii \o/

Please, please, please tell me GUILT isn't there. Seriously, as much as I love Trauma Centre the missions with GUILT suck. I want to do fairly realistic medical procedures. Not the whole GUILT thing. Which is silly :(

Only one - i've been too busy to keep up with current gaming news :/

Well, so much for a September release:

There's no change in our plan to release the console in the last quarter of this year. We are planning an announcement in September and it may be causing some confusion.
Source.

Ten bucks says TGS 2006 announcement. Man, that show is going to be HUGE, and not just in terms of sheer numbers--there's going to be a ton of interesting stuff displayed given the Wii/PS3 launch right around the corner from it!

My birthday is in October...would be good time to launch.:bounce:

I can't believe they are calling this thing the "Wii". Gamers will never be the same. Already the jokes...

Um... are you 10 years old? Most of us got over the Wii jokes after about a day. :dozey:

For the record, they have officially announced that we will be playing Wii before Thanksgiving, so at the very worst, it could come out early November. An early launch would be welcome though.
