Edgewind Mod

I am looking for a few talented people in helping me with creating a mod. I cannot tell you much about the mod. Things that have happened in the past caution me on posting anything about it for fear of my ideas being stolen (AGAIN). However if you are interested in helping me out there all the essential mod positions needed to be filled. What I am looking for first is a website creator. I am not going to go for something crappy but something nice and SIMPLE will do. I don't want Nightfall website, though that would be cool, something easy. The rest as follows

1. Website creator
2. Concept artists
3. modelers
4. level designers
5.Coders
6.Voice actors
7.Story helpers
and anything else I can think of at the moment. I am not picky but I don't want someone who is new to this. Nothing against you or your talents. I just would like people with experience in those fields. I will tell you about the mod once you have contacted me. Just send me an e-mail via [email protected] with a piece of your work attached.

What are you doing for the mod team? You say you want experienced people, but what about yourself? No one is going to help you if you don't at least give a brief synopsis of the game. You have one post... people aren't going to frolick off into imaginary mod land in hopes of making a game with you. What teams have you worked for? You've missed some other critical roles that you need for the team... And who's stolen your idea before? Stealing the whole idea behind someone's mod is pretty tough... maybe someone made a mod around the premise of yours... I mean if it was like "OHHH I want to make this game where you kill zombies and stuff, or these CT guys fight off these Terrorists"... then I'm afraid they've been done a thousand times. There are way to many of these threads and new posters around... sheesh...

Thank you for pointing something out to me even if your reply was a bit harsh. I forgot to add one thing. I you want a synopsis of the mod you can e-mail me requesting one :cheese:

You could have answered some of my questions at least? Sorry it sounds harsh, but scenarios like this happen almost everyday in these forums. You have to be harsh to keep the people that won't get anywhere away.

Maybe just ask for a webdesigner and once your Mod has a website it will give some weight to your ideas. People will be more easily shown up for stealing ideas if there's a mod in production with those same ideas who got there first.

Then you can ask for concept artists, etc.

Why are coders 5th on the list :(

Or....

How about getting some solid ideas and something to show you're serious then building a website.

I'm not gonna be anymore interested in a mod with a website with nothing on it than I am someone with no website and nothing to show.

I'm assuming that he already has solid ideas, which would merit the effort going into building a website. If the website displays his ideas he has a greater sense of ownership over them, they would be more identifiable as his ideas for his Mod.

Website really shouldn't be the top of the agenda. Zombie Master reached its tenth internal alpha before we put the site up.

yeah i was about to say how about worrying about the mod and not the website. trying to make websites gives me a headache n the uploading n the hyplink a majiggys n all that arghh.

Heh, enter the tribes is currently running closed beta with still no site =D a great team spends time on making the mod great and not on designing the website =D anyway thats my oppinion though =D

Ugh... everyone has there own ideas how a mod "should" work. Just do what works best for you to start off with and be open minded. Take suggestions carefully.

Before you start promoting a mod, you really need to get one factor proven:

Is it fun to play?

The best way to do this is to code a prototype. Alternatively, mock something together in GMOD.
The "fun" factor is the biggest flaw in a lot of projects.

Games aren't all about graphics you know. You could have a new mod with superb graphics, new guns and everything, but the code from HL2DM. Would that be fun?

Zombiemaster has the gameplay in, the code to make it work. The graphics follow the code, the code does not follow the graphics. First you make it fun, then you make it pretty and fun.

I couldn't have said it better Crispy. I have everything already in a file. Don't be lazy just e-mail me and I will send the file to you!

Everything that is modded from the source engine essentially is "HL2"... the coding in Zombie Master is spectacular and it is one of the most unique and original mod's currently in a playable stage for HL2. Although I havn't played it, I do know enough about it and it's staff that it's great. People like AL who are leaders of the community here are members of it's staff and put alot of work into it. It's probably one of the best mod's out right now.

it's not out yet, though. Although, we know when we're releasing it.

I wouldn't say it's the best, either. It's definately fun, though.

It's definitely great fun (even though I suck at it), but we're really not without our bugs, trust me :)
