Edit Options Outside Game

I've been thinking of alot of ways to say this, but to put it simply I was messing around with my hl2 options and set everything max, so now i cant open it ^_^. I just want to know if there is a safe mode, or if i can edit my options outside of the game by any means. Thanks in advance!

In the launch options(right click on half life 2 in the steam play menu then on options) Then type -console -autoconfigure

Or -console -windowed -width 1024 -height 768

I guess its some help but it didnt do any thing ^_^. I just made it in windowed mode, and the autoconfigure thing did nothing. It wasnt the resolution that ****ed it up i turned up the advanced settings to max, and i think the aa x 16 screwed it up =D hehe thought my comp could handle it. Any way heres a screen shot, if it helps. SOmetimes lines run across the screen like weird lightnings things, horozontally. Wait apparantly i cant upload a photo, but i can see the windows of the options pop up but theres nothin in it just blank. Thanks again

You could force your GFX card to go with no AA at all

I know I can with my Nvidia card. Whats your card?

If you want everything to go back to normal delete.

steam/steamapps/accountname/

Then delete the half life 2 folder.

No, you check what's actually in the half life 2 folder. All the files are contained in the gcf files, once you goto start up half life 2 it will re create the folder with default settings.

Would be a good idea to back your saves up.

if you deleted the GCF's, then you've deleted HL2

Turn of VSync in the options of the game or force your graphics card to do it.

Yup, the GCF's hold all the files for HL2, maybe that's why it dosent work anymore. You don't actually have HL2.

actually i used gcf scape to extract the files to run half life 2 in offline mode, because steam is really gay with letting me play and all so ya, thats aside the subject, all i would like to know is in which folder are the settings located, and in which specific file, thank you

YAY! i got it, all i had to do is force my card not to show aa and whateva the otha thing was lol guess that guy who responded earlier was right ^_^ thank you!

I believe that breaks the EULA. Go ahead if you risk the account being disabled.
