Edit the background menu image

Hey,
For that mod that I'm working on I want to know how to make it so that the background image is different for the menu. I dont want a 3D menu background though.

I dont think you understood. I need to put my own in. That doesn't help. Where do I put the files or what files do I need to edit?

Making background menu

Heres a link to how to create the background menu maps..

Its basically a mini *.bsp map that has just enough bits to create the effect. The key is keeping it small so it loads quick..

Okay, I figured out how. First you will need to make your image into a VTF by dragging the image onto the VTEX.exe file under bin. Make sure the file is in the right place originally when you do this so that it will go to your materials folder. Then move it into materials/console or create a console folder if it doesnt exist. Then just copy and paste the VMT file from the southpark package. Open the VMT file with notepad and rename it to reflect the name of your background image. Then you will need to go into the Scripts folder under hl2/scripts and edit the file called Chapterbackground and change the image location of the first chapter or what ever chapter you are on to the name of you VTF file. Leave off the VTF part of the name though.
