Editing HalfLife, Steam version

I downloaded Half Life through Steam, so it didn't come with Hammer or anything (i think). Can I still make maps and edit characters with the Steam version? Sorry if this has been addressed already, I'm too lazy to look through 80 pages of threads. Thanks! :imu:

When you buy half life you dont usually get hammer anyway so just find somewhere to download it.
