I am not racist, but this really pisses me off and I have to post it. I use to live in a good neighborhood, no crime or fights or anything ever happened. Almost everyone was white except for a few people, there were some nice Indian people across the street who invited us over for dinner a few times and cooked Indian food. That was about 5 years ago, now after some Asians moved in, a black family and a hispanic family there is a gang going around. They hang out at the park and play basketball, and they threaten everyone there(usually 10 year old kids like my little brother). In the past 2 weeks there have been 4 cars broken into, that has never happened before in my neighborhood. They are all the gangsta types too, listen to crappy rap music with explicit lyrics and like to where gigantic clothes. I don't really know where I am going with this, but I am pissed off, I am not racist and think all minorities are evil, just the gangstas. There is an Asian family across the street from my house and they are real nice, for some reason they like to give us Asian food. I know this is a terribly put together post, but I just woke and and I have to go now.

Oh one more thing, they beat up a bunch of little kids in the park yesterday, there were 3 police cars there. I am not sure what happened, but that is what I heard. I blame hip-hop for glorifying the gangsta life, and just in general being an asshole.

Don't diss hiphop. I love rap with all my heart, and I know that there are some extremely retarded lyrics out there, but in general, the lesser known artists, and the smarter ones, never promote the "street life", but instead rap about how to get out, and get a real life.

I know of two rap-type guys who are actually decent. Kyprios and K-Os. Everyone else is completely worthless IMO. Stupid songs like I'm So Fly and Lean Back are just absolute shite, all these guys talk about is how much money they have, how cool they are (if you have to tell people how cool you are, you aren't), and how many women they get.

Now, on topic: That's sad to hear, Foxtrot. I sincerely hope that they all get arrested or decide to move somewhere where they'll bother other gangsters

I live in Las Vegas...There is a bit of crime and gang activity here. I know, because my dad is a police officer, and he tells me stories, and shows me pictures. There are a few really bad parts of this city, and then there are a few really good parts. The good parts are the masterplanned communities such as Summerlin, and Green Valley. There are a few, but there arent really as many minorities living in my area as there are downtown. Last year, my school had a problem with blacks being bussed up to our school because of overcrowding at another school downtown. There were alot of problems and fights because of them. This year... they are gone, and everything is running smooth. :thumbs:

What you listen to like lean back and I'm so Fly is mostly hip hop its not rap. I find a lot of people don't know the difference. And you know who likes to play those songs? Preppy white kids like those on TRL and minorities also.

I think thats the thing that bothers me most about rap.

There is alot of bad rock, (all that hardcore screamo stuff) and there is some good rap. Its all preference. Im 130% white. Im so white its crazy, but hey, i like to listen to the occassional rap song, just to bop my head. I respect some rap artists, but usually not the popular ones. I think they get paid WAY too much for what they do. There are doctors saving peoples lives who get paid a fraction of what these guys do.

Just dont flame too much, because everyone has to like something. And it will come back and bite you.

That place has got itself a very bad reputation since there is more criminality than in the rest of the town. I respect that. Yeah that is true in a way they had just gotten stupidier by lyrics but they have a nice beat to it thats why I like it. You just gotta find the good rap its out there.

I prefer music where musical notes are played, as opposed to beats repeated over and over. In my mind hip-hop and rap are less about the music and more about the image portrayed in the lyrics and the rapping. Being able to rap is a talent, but it just does nothing for me. If you enjoy that, more power to you, but I honestly feel there is so much more to music than what is displayed in these types of music.
