What you think? I really like his lyris, they actually have some meaning instead of other crap which is commerciallised to appeal to tarts / slappers and chavs.

Eg in da club, wheres the point in that he jsut showing off by 50 cent,

its jsut for drunken parties not really someithng i would listen to whilst working.

Although admitedly some of eminems tracks are good at a party in my view, jsut no one else will play em :p

To simply put it, rap is a bucket of slight racial hate mixed with beating up women who won't have sex with you and a few home movies mixed with a nice mixture of poop and bubblegum.

eminem is trash, if he has ever written good music I wouldn't be able to tell you, he just is....trash...

Eminem is either a seriously deranged individual or he's phony that exists for shock value. If you accuse him of being the former, he'll say he's only kidding around. If you say he's the latter, he'll do the typical rapper schtick and say "It comes from my heart, yo".

So which is it, Marshall? You pick.

That song was such an abomination. Also, note how in the video J-Kwon isn't focussed for more than about 10 seconds. Reason? He's offensively ugly - stupid little scrote should just shut the f*ck up.

As for Eminem? I have a lot of respect for the guy. When he's bad, he's your normal rubbishy rap. However he's also very inventive, intelligent and astute at times; when he's good, he's VERY good.
 
Yea I like him. Really cant pinpoint why, just good beats, good lyrics, good rapping. *shrugs*
 
I like some tunes of rap, but it's the lyrics and the whole purpose of most of thier songs that makes me dislike it slightly.
 
mashal mathers lp was his pinical peice... it all went to shit from there...

i loved MM LP, when he writes stuff from his heart, not teenybopper trash for the charts to sell cds, he's true talent shows through.
 
Yeah Most of his albums i hate the first time i listen to them, but they all grow on me however with encore i started off thinking this is realyl good, but the more i listened to it the more i kinda got bored of it

Overall MM Lp is the best for the lyrics, Eminem show is summat to listen to when your driveing sumwhere and The Slim hady Lp is jsut for chillin:p

eminem show was good to an extent... but a big dissapointment after MM

Instead he is the biggest thing to hit rap since N.W.A (Ice Cube, Ren, Dr.Dre, Eazy-E, Dj Yella) came on the scene around 1988

His albums are generally good, but you really need to hear him on Underground Mix tapes where he is hanging with another crew and writes some shit on the spot. I may not be explaining it well for those uninformed but there are DJ's that get rappers together to rap for a paragraph or two, and they take turns for the 5 minute track.

COMPARED to 50 cent, eminem is a genius....but on the whole, i just think eminem is a bit of fun for 14 year olds because listen to 'the real slim shady' for example and you'll understand that he isn't meant to be taken seriously

I have more respect for him than other rappers. However I still think hes a twat.
 
:dozey: Just like any other Mainstream artist, they come and go... Eminem was big coouple years back, now he's boring. Same will go with 50 Cent and G-Unit.
 
I all honesty some of his tracks are just crazy like, Criminal II, without me, crazy in love ass like that, guilty consciense, My name is and The real slim shady (however with this one there is infact a meaning but cos it sounds so " fun" no one pays attention)
and those kinda songs are just things he does for the hell of it and dont really hold any relevance but they are the comemrcial tracks an album needs for publicity, and thusly sales, howver i dindt buy ne of his albums for the Cool tracks on them i bought em cos i liked what he says:p and can listen to it for literally hours without being bored.

Howver when u look at all his other tracks they hold a lot more meaning and inspiration is drawn from his past expeiriences and the general quality of life he lived in.

Overall The bloke knows what he has,, and that is skill in what he wnats to do. otherwis ehe wouldnt have 4 albums whch are popular and constant mix tapes and the like.

Take a look at the video for stan, that is amazingly done and synced with the lyrics, even tho the lips ar eout of sycn in the car scene becuase it is overacted it adds to the atmosphere expressing how physchotic the bloke is feeling.
 
i actually do think he has talent to write lyrics but i'm not a big hip-hop fan, infact i think its all a load of bollocks...so i wouldn't know what a true good hip-hop artist is like

to me, when someone mentions rap or hip-hop, i think of black guys that think they are gangsters trying to sound like they've ****ed every girl on the planet and that owning a gun gets them 'SPECK'. most of it is mindless but then again i have a friend who records hip-hop and his style is something fresh and worth listening to. if all this gangster rubbish was left behind IN DA GHETTO, hip-hop could be a genre i'd consider listening to

I agree 50 Cent really gets me mad he isn't good just eminem and dre got him famous. Oh and i hate G-UNIT! :frown:
 
What were you thinking? This whole forum (with the exception of a couple people) hate rap and anything with rap or a rapper in the title will get flamed. And its funny to know that most of these haters havent even heard most of the good rap songs. But I am one of the few that likes it (not just rap I like all types of music) and yes em is cool with crazy lyrics...or atleast his old stuff.

no-one has flamed anyone...people are just expressing their hate for rap if they do so hate it. thats called an opinion my friend and you'll have to accept that in life, people aren't drones and differ in their tastes than you indeed do

i also said that in my post that i can't truely comment because i haven't heard the whole lot of hip-hop and thats because IN MY OPINION, you've heard one, you've heard them all
 
To me hiphop is mindless repition of ryming words that mean nothing. 50 cent to me is the luckiest person on the planet. God know why his albums sell, cause he raps like crap (no pun intended), he talks about how he is the big gangsta, with his bitches and what not. Its all BS.

Just for the record, i listen to Classic Rock (ZZ - Top, Cars etc.)
I also like Wierd Al at times...
 
I love Eminem.

He manages to rhyme words together that don't really seem like they shouldn rhyme. Yet somehow he does it. He's not only extremely talented, he's very original.
 
I have to say some of em's lyrics are briliant, and some of them are just fun stupid stuff to get a party going. The third set, is the dark history, his mother and so on, he handles those situations childishly by using some profane [not just cussing, but rather ugly sentices] words stringed together to create vilolent lines. He is pound for pound the best rapper out there, but he is 5'8 and prolly 180 pounds, not a big guy by any means.
 
I don't think he's commercialized, but he's white trash if ever there was.

I know thats what im saying, everyones opinion about rap with the exception of a couple people is that they hate it. They may not of flamed anyone but it just gets kinda annoying when you try to post a thread about rap and everyone just comes in and is like "i hate rap".

please can we not judge eminem on his last albums but rather the ones before "encore". he is a lyrical genius. if u disagree, u obviously have had little education in poetry and literature as Eminem often uses poetic devices like alliteration, consonance, and complicated rhyme schemes. My sister just got her PhD in english and teaches at a major state university. You know what she uses to teach her kids poetry? Eminem

Listen to the others before u judge. ITslike reading a book from the middle out. look at the cover the prologue and the beggining before you read to the middle..........
