Like what? When I was younger I thought I was being anti-music-establishment by listening to Sum 41. Problem: I wasn't.

No not really...a lot of the emo kids that follow emo culture around here listen to stuff like cue the doves, the aesthetic, nightmare of your, red fox grey fox, the grayline....and other stuff most people have never heard of. Emo culture kids do this to try to be different, but as I said earlier most emo's just dress that way...actual emos are few.

Personally i think modern emo is a big steaming pile of horse shit. They all whine about crap that doesnt exist , like saying "im so sad , i wanna commit suicide" when they have no reason what so ever to be "sad" (im aware that there are people who are actually depressed and its not a shot at them , just the people who pretend to be depressed to get attention). Also the people who actually sing that stuff are stupid , most have never had anything bad happen to them in thier entire lives , take Gerard Way for example , so what he got held up at gun point , so what he saw september 11th does that mean he has to sing about commiting suicide all the time? No.

People who actually have something to sing about that actually happened to them are having thier brilliant music ignored because of people like MCR , things like that should be sung from the heart not just to get popular. Take KoRn and SlipknoT for example , both of thier lead singers had pretty crap lives up until thier music career and decided to use that to create brilliant (imo) music that comes from thier soul and has immense power to it.

Tl;DR? Most emos are posers.
