Any of you guys in the EMS field? EMT/Paramedic?
I'll be starting training soon with a local Rescue Squad, really can't wait to get into it.
Took two ride-alongs with the squad I think I'll be joining before I applied. Didn't want to jump into something then when training is over think "oh shit".

It was a very exciting time riding along with them, on the last call had a DOA. Got there, and there was a 97 year old lady already dead on arrival. She was also a DNR (Oo Not Resuscitate) Really was an interesting time.

So are any of you EMT's or Paramedics? How about any firefighters? And if so, share some experiences you had, maybe even some tips.

I'm not personally, but a few buddies are EMS and they thoroughly enjoy it. Though they say it can be a bit hard, depending on the situation, when someone dies right in front of you.

My little brother started out on that, but he's been with the volunteer fire department for several years now. Never a dull moment I'm sure. Not for long anyway.

I have an aunt and uncle who are both paramedics, they have no shortage of stories to share about it. Sounds... exhilarating, to say the least. :p

Are you allowed to be a paramedic if you keep reading Make Out Paradise on the job, Kakashi?

I'm a paramedic and my advise is to keep an emesis bag on you at all times, you will never believe how many times it will save you from being covered. It's an exciting career but high stress. Good luck with it though.

lol, I don't even know what I was thinking when I made this username, wish I could change it. I never use this name anywhere else, or as an alias. Its crazy to think that I've been here already four years now. But of course not many posts to accompany that figure.

But anywhos, I really can't wait to start EMT training, just waiting for a call to get my interview to volunteer at the station. First is the background check/fingerprints, physical, then a three day orientation to familiarize with both the station and the ambulance. Then start classes for free at the Fire & Rescue Safety Academy. Its going to be an interesting journey.

Obviously you were thinking Naruto.

Anyway, I wish you the best of luck with the whole saving the lives of others thing.
