Hey, the last upgrade I made to my system was a X800 XT PE back in August. Im looking to make another major upgrade again at the end of the year. Im thinking that I'll probably keep my X800 XT PE. However, Im more concerned with what kind of processors will be available by the end of the year. So, this is for all of you in the know, what can I expect from AMD or Intel? Will there be major strides in power or will it be very minimal?

Here's my specs if it matters:
-P4 3.0GHz 800FSB
-1 Gig of PC3200 RAM (dual channel)
-X800 XT PE
-ASUS P4P800 Deluxe

AMD Fx-55 baby  get it, NOW. :D
(btw, if you really do want to replace your graphics card with Nvidias SLI out there un'all... just send it my way :p)

FX-55 will start to show its age when the dual cores start coming out. Plus its still about $800 i think.

As for the vid cards... Dual Ultras is the best, but it seems dual GPU vid cards are gonna be the next fad.
For upgrading.... wait for everything.

Dual core CPUs, OLEDs (in my dreams) RAID II and even more obscure technologies will be revealed in the next year and a half.

Yeah, the FX-55 sounds nice and it performs incredibly well but the price is a tad bit steep. I just got another job so Im gonna be saving tons every month until the end of the year. Plus, by years end Im not so sure if it'll be at the tip top.

So dual cores huh? I've heard about em and I know AMD and Intel are probably developing them but I don't know what kind of performance gain we're going to see.

The SLI setup sounds pretty awesome too. Right now, it seems like its a little overkill.

Thx for the responses. Keep em coming.
