engine error (picture attached)

I got the game running, only for this error to come up after the game is about 1/3 the way through loading after the first fmv

What does this mean and how can I fix it? Thanks

It looks like it means it ran out of virtual memory...sometimes happens...restart Steam and see if that happens again..

I got this error 3 times, to solve it I lowered my graphic settings. Hope this helps.

Tried it, didn't work as such.

It's probably because my PC is crap but I'll try lowering some settings, maybe upgrade drivers

Upgrading drivers wont help...you have a hardware problem, not software.

I think I only have 512 on this comp (I don't know I hardly use it). Not sure though, is there an easy way to find out?

Right click on My Computer, choose properties...at the bottom of that window it'll show you how much RAM you have.

Thanks, looks like I have 1GB of RAM.

I've tried both suggested methods of fixing this bug and neither work. It's so annoying because both Half Life 2 and Episode 1 work perfectly and I've never had this bug before.

I would re-install but I don't want to have to re-download the game...

Zomg I got 512 mb of ram memory and ep2 run well. You don't have to re-download when you reinstall Steam. Only copy Steamapps folder from Steam directory to somewhere ro time of un-installing ex: C Main C drive catalog.

I'm on the verge of giving up with EP2. I've tried everything; the regedit fixes, uninstalling AVG, re-downloading, re-installing (pretty much everything except formatting)

And it still doesn't work, and never has done. All the while HL2 and EP1 work perfectly.
