What would you like to see in an expansion pack? Personally I'd love to see one where you play as a Combine trooper - that would be damned sweet :naughty:

Think of the fun you could have gunning down the members of the Resistance or, even better, piloting a Strider :sniper:

Hmm... I always have a hard time "being" a bad-guy... But in a hypothetical Opposing Force 2 you could start out as a Combine Soldier and then betray the Combine when you realize the errors of your ways

Playing the game from Alyx's perspective would be absolutely sweet. There would be so much chance for crossover between the HL2 and the expansion, which is something the explored in the HL expansions but this would take it to another level.

I don't think the Combine have very much to do with Xen - if anything, they might be the enemies of Xen.

I don't think Striders are driven (can a human even fit in there...?)
Back on topic, i wouldn't want to play as a combine, not much to fight, except ant lions and other aliens... There aren't many resistance fighter.

It's much the same way that I've always wanted to be a stormtrooper in a Star Wars FPS or how much more fun I had in TiE Fighter than X-Wing because I was flying for the Empire.

There is just something neat about stepping out of character and being evil once in a while

Yep... they might be fighting the aliens.. but why are they oppressing the common folks? Are they a part of the new world order after the fall of civilization? A paranoid giant "machine" that cares nothing about human rights. Hmm... are they China?

I think their name says it all - they "combine" their civilization with others through oppression and/or extermination.

Or you can interpret it another way. A "combine" is a machine that harvests crops. So they "harvest" other worlds for whatever raw materials, etc. they need and then leave a dead, desolate world in their wake.

The Half-Life 2 world is a bit reminiscent of the Fallout world. It's after a big catastrophy and there are only small towns and cities left in the wasteland, the Combine is somewhat like the "Enclave".
