If Valve puts out an ad for Ep 3, what do you think it should be?

My idea is to start with the song "Anything You Can Do", and show Gordon and Alyx running through a crowd of Combine/ Xen, one-upping each other as they go.

Then again, I'm no writer. so maybe that's a bad idea. Would love to hear your guy's ideas though.

Don't worry its not from you... Its from the headache im getting from you...

That commercial would probably make me never go near anything Half-Life related ever again.

I think that Frederic Chopin's Prelude in C Minor, Opus 28, Number 20 showing all the destruction in the half life world would be cool.

thank you Vegeta, for making me realize how corny that idea was. I do like officer combine's idea though.
Has there ever been a halflife commercial? (i should probably just search it, but im too lazy)

Yep, Valve did TV commercials for The Orange Box and Left 4 Dead.

^ Just youtube it.

If they do one, it'll probably be exactly like the teaser seen at the end of Ep. 1. Vague as all hell, and probably showing parts that won't happen (hence "teaser").

Whatever it'll be, if it's in third person with Gordan in the scene, I'll flip shit at it's failure.

Nah, not really. I've had it used on me here a few times. These guys are quite hypercritical. :p

They should do it like the season promos for lost. The main characters/events as well as some freaky shit.

the only thing i would want to see in an ad would be a release date... not that it would actually mean anything but something to set out countdown timers to until the next delay :)

I'd like to see Trailers/Teasers both online and on TV. like the Ep1 and Ep2 trailers.... those were AWESOME!

If they release an ad, I just hope it's better than the Orange Box ad. Both episodes had awesome trailers on the internetz, but TV ad was... less awesome. IMHO. Either way, I hope we get some brilliant teaser/trailers like we did for Ep2. Getting hyped up was half the fun.

The getting to know the release date was the other half.

I am just letting you know guys that this time period here in Greece we mostly lie to eachother!! :cheese::imu:

No offence Officer Combine i am not saying anything against you!!

Heh. Yeah, it was a joke. corny one, but still a joke. :naughty:

I propose we storm Valve HQ and torture the employees for information on Ep. 3.*

*No, not really.

Sorry to seem like a d*ck here, it's just with all the times i've seen it on this forum it really bugs me but... it's gordOn!!!! :sniper:

But seriously all I want is a release date and, if we're lucky, a goddamn trailer!

The trailer will start pitch black. There will be some white noise in the background, faint and alien. The screen will flash with glimpses of past events, images showing what has led Gordon Freeman up to this moment. Image flashes, darkness. Image flashes, darkness.

The white noise in the background is building.

An image of the Borealis on Kleiner's monitor flashes. Scenes of Overwatch soldiers and hunters flooding through an arctic base. Black screen. The noise in the background warbles, becomes distorted.

And becomes this synthetic, heart-pumping rock song, along the lines of Nuclear Mission Jam or Vortal Combat. We see a chopper racing toward an arctic shelf. Fast cuts of gameplay onboard the Borealis, down in the engine room fighting the zombified crew. Scenes of Gordon gunning down Overwatch Elite with the AR2. Using the gravity gun to place Aperture Science-model turrets to take out hunter synths clambering down into the holds of the ship. A snowy vista, broken by the thundering steps of a Combine fortification as it rakes the land for resources. And Gordon frozen in place as a host of advisors float toward him. Blackness.

The title credits fade in:

Half-Life 2
- Episode Three -

Coming Never

Right there'll be an asteroid heading towards the earth, and it'll burn up in the atmosphere and thousands of Gordon Freemans will pour out like debris!

Dudes, what about a G-Man speech made just for the commercial similar to the intro scene in HL2, with him hinting to us the date of the release as events of the past and future flashing slowly behind him? I'd jump out of the screen if I looked up from my bag of Cheetos and saw the G-man staring at me on my TV after hearing that voice. "Mister Freeemaaaan..."

That would be super creepy to suddenly hear the G-Man on the TV.
