Why do they always ****ing have music. I want to hear the guns damnit.
 
The guns sound lame. They just like "zzzt zzzt zzzt"
 
I remember when some place in the UK was making a place essentially looked just like de_dust from Counter-Strike. That would have been badass.
 
Something about littering a perfectly good forest with countless plastic pellets annoys me...

You're right, these forest lands shouldn't be bought for airsoft arenas, they should be bought for housing development so we can cut them down.
 
i never played airsoft or paintball.

i'd like to ask:

how the hell can you feel a plastic pellet trough a thick vest and many clothes in the midst of battle?

in that regard i'd say pintball is much more pristine, since you can see the shot.

i think the best thing would be to combine the aspects of both.

make semi realistic weapons like in airsoft, but designed to shoot 9mm paint balls with biodegradable paint.
yes the ammo capacity would be small but i think it would be a lot more fun and of course more fair, since you couldn't cheat that easy. yes it would be a bit more expensive, but possibly worth it. you'd have to aim better not to waste too much ammo.

also equipment should be modified so hits are easy visible, without very rough surfaces (ammo vests,big backpacks...).

in the current state i think airsoft is rather poor compared to what it could be.

Sorry I had to separate you there a little bit from that above bullshit.

Anyways, Oftentimes it's the sound of the plastic bb that you hear, if you don't feel it. It can make a distinct sound as it hits clothing and especially vests. And more over, where there is one, there's usually others to follow.

But really, what it boils down to is a system of honor. When you have fields that take the game seriously, you have people who enjoy the privilege of playing there and when somebody is known to cheat.... well let's just say they won't be able to find themselves back at that field anymore. The strength of the honor system works very well in airsoft from what I've heard.

The great thing about airsoft, is that it's far, FAR cheaper than paintball. If you start incorporating paint as a main staple of airsoft, then it simply becomes paintball... and because of the manufacturing processes involved in paintball you'll certainly see the prices of rounds increasing for airsoft. As I said, a huge benefit of airsoft besides realism as far as weapons go, is the low low price of pellets compared to paintball, and for so many more.

No, it does look really gay.

For one, they all look like complete loosers and many are obese. Like that fat kid in that "Don't worry m'am, I'm from the internet" picture. They're all dressed up in their own uniforms and in one there's aload of people dressed up as iraqis with sticks to make it more 'realistic'.

Now paintballing, when done in rural conditions and not around inflatable bouncy castles is far better, thats a manly sport. For one it hurts when you get shot, secoundly, you get to crawl face down up a stream covering your self in mud up to a bunker whilst people shoot at you and you can feel the splashes from paintballs as they land around you. Thats ****ing cool.

And airsoft is bigger than paintball. Its a lot more accessible to people who arnt rich. You just dont hear anything about it because people can get in trouble if someone who doesnt understand what airsoft is finds out about it. And paintball looks far gayer than airsoft imo.


OH EXCUSE ME. I TOTALLY FORGOT THAT PAINTBALL WAS ABOUT BEING MEN AND NOT CRYING WHEN YOU GET HIT WITH A SMALL BALL THAT POPS WHEN IT HITS YOU. Cause its not a sport if you dont get tiny insigificant bruises from being shot with popping balls. :|

Don't be an idiot. Seriously. Many airsoft players in the united states, if not most, came from a paintball background.

There's no reason for paintball and airsoft to be compared and contrasted as if they are mortal enemies.

And if you actually do your research, airsoft and paintball as a sport, came around at around the same time. Both in the late 70s and early 80s. So don't be an idiot.

They're both very different. Airsoft is something that generally focuses on more realistic tactical engagements with realism heavily being a factor as far as weapon design and uniform design. Paintball on the other hand is one more designed as a sport, and often as a sort of hide and seek tag styled game that plays well in teams. It's easy to compare the two, but if you're really open minded about both airsoft and paintball and have a passion for BOTH of them like me, you can see that they each have their own merits and drawbacks.
 
6mm aluminium or plastic pellets at 0.98 joules can break skin and penetrate clothing at distances up to 35 meters.


My airsoft days are over, at least until I graduate. Paintball is banned due to paintballs having kinetic energies up to 12 joules.

Airsoft is great fun, although it's been a long time since I played last.

I really don't give a shit for listening to the rantings and ravings of paintball zealots, I would rather play a game with realistic weapons that are actually accurate and have a decent range.
If you prefer to shoot each other with wildly inaccurate guns that don't even have iron sights, great. Just shut up with the !!!!! and the OMG AIRSOFTLOLZ as if it makes you superior.

For your information, airsoft is a Far Eastern thing. It's massive over there, and likewise, paintball is non-existent.

I'd love to play again, but I never managed to figure out how to carry the stuff on my bike and now I'm not up to it for a while.

Last time, I went to Combat South. That was a few years ago now though.

I can respect paintball players, but it's not as much fun for me, something less exciting about shooting people with paint that comes from a pouch on a weapon that I refuse to call a gun of any sorts.
 
You don't pretend to be in the army. There is no 'in character'. I guess military terminology and tactics are used because they are already adapted to warfare.

This, and also for camouflage. And it just looks cool.

Airsoft does have, for most people, the thrill of shooting realistic looking weapons. Without big splatters of brightly colored paint on people. Paintball is less of a gunfight simulation, and that's fine.

It's funny how paintballers tend to have far more immature players like the above and almost ALWAYS start the flames in these threads.
 
I used to airsoft reguarly, although I haven't for quite some time.
