You get the EP1 stuff with Gmod 10 automatically. If you have Gmod 9 (which requires HL2, HL2DM and CSS to work) you can install this, attached, mini-mod into Gmod 9 which will give you access to EP1 levels and models (provided you have EP1 installed also).

EP 1 is standalone. You can play gmod with EP1

Gm9 is still using the olde source engine.

That means many many many features in ep1 wont be in there.

You can only buy Gmod 10 off of Steam. Get it there.

Gmod 9 does require CSS and HL2DM. It's 10 that only needs SDK Base.

You can download it, it doesn't get sent to you in a box. You just click 'buy' on gmod 10 and enter your credit card blah blah and buy it, and then downlaod it.

Gmod 9
This is free. It can be downloaded from www.garry.tv and requires HL2, HL2DM and CSS in order to work. Those games are required for it to work and it cannot be run using other games. If you use the EP1 mod I provided with Gmod 9 and you have EP1 installed then you can use the EP1 levels and models in Gmod 9.

Gmod 10
This is not free. It must be purchased from Steam but is standalone. It requires any one game that uses the source engin to work. I'm not sure if you automatically get EP1 content in Gmod 10 or if you need to have EP1 installed to get it. I do not own this game.

You must have HL2, HL2DM and CSS installed to play Gmod 9. All three. EP1 will not do in place of HL2.

If you own and have installed Ep1, GMod 10 will detect it and let you use its content.

I highly recommend GMod 10 over GMod 9 if you can get it, it's less hassle, more polished, has more content, has better supported custom content, more multiplayer users and will be updated early next year with the new Orange Box content.

You don't play Gmod OVER HL2 Ep 1, you just load maps from it.

Follow the prompts, you have Windows XP and a Radeon X1300.

The "Catalyst Software Suite" is probably best unless you find the download size too big in which case the "Display Driver" will do the job fine.
