Ahead are a few spoilers.

PC ZONE UK have managed to snag an exclusive look at Episode 1, and not only does the article contain a few new screens, but also some pretty damn awesome info.

"Gordon is removed from stasis way before Gmans schedule, the very instant HL2 ended."

"Episode 1 will feature a mad dash through the crumbling vaults of Breen’s former Administration building, before showcasing its wrecked environs: awash with antlions that have flooded into the wrecked city, panicked Combine troops and pockets of humans desperate to escape. Kleiner, meanwhile has hacked into the Citadels propaganda network, his face appearing on the manifold screens - delivering his own dire warnings and crackpot theories."

There’s some new faces in the ascendant. "Episode 1 will mark the rise of a third power in the HL2 universe and one that'll have a large impact on Gordon’s future."
Evidence is suggesting, that it is actually the true Combine, those yet to come to Earth.

Robin Walker explains. "The Combine aren't happy with Breen’s failure to deal with Freeman and the resistance. In Episode 1 you'll learn some of the ways in which they are starting to take things into their own hands, none of which is good news for Alyx and Gordon."

"Creatures manufactured by Breen in the Citadel, using the Combines technology granted to him in their side of the faustion bargain (Earths surrender). Voluntarily or extremely involuntarily, the soldiers, zombies and stalkers are all adapted humans: biological, mechanical and tech-hybrids pumped out by the monolithic Citadel."
(Well, we already knew that one)

We can expect a few more aliens to jumping the divide between worlds as well.

Barney will be there to help out with the street fighting, Dog will appear at the beginning, showing up to be "Long enough to be useful."

"The people Gordon met in HL2 are facing new challenges and the resulting events won't leave them untouched..."

At Half-life 2's end, the Gman told you he'd received some interesting offers for your services and that ordinarily he wouldn't contemplate them, adding that these are extraordinary times. A lot of this is due to the change in the Half-life universe, and Valve can't wait to tell you about it.

New screens include a shot of Alyx shooting down some Combine elite in the Citadel, Alyx and Gordon moving towards an energy bridge in the Citadel, Alyx shooting up at an antlion in City 17 and Alyx and Dog watching at something in awe - and if I'm not very much mistaken, they are at the tip of reactor.

SCREEEEEEEENS! Very cool info btw.

Edit: I kinda wish i hadnt reed it thou.

well i now where i'm going tomarrow ;)

Edit: i wonder if VALVe will make amens to the Race-X? and put them in there somewhere down the line

Scans?

Ep1 is sounding better and better. All those plot details the progression in the events seem to be able to hold a whole game , not only an episode.

Valve have announced that they will not be continuing Race X at any point, this was confirmed by Marc Laidlaw. I'm glad, they theres really no story potential there.

ah thanks for the info Samon, well can't wait to see these "others" of the combine, should be very fun and give's VALVe a chance to redeem those old concept's for combine soldier's

I'm looking forward to seeing what they are cooking for the Combine as well. What desperate measures they take to take hold of the situation will certainly be interesting to see.

i smell alot of nukes or H-bombs in some sense, well one thing is for sure, from this info the real combine are coming back to finish off what they started in the 7 hour war, no more surrender's! no more agreeing to breen's statement's (did i spell it right?) and terms the the HL2 universe is heading to shitvile and it's going to get wrost before it get's better

How does a robot made of reconstituted scrap express awe?

Well, in my own personal working of the backstory/conspiracy, Race X are fighting on the side of the 'Rebel Alliance' - the same group that the C17 rebels and Vorts end up with, fighting against the Combine throughout the Universe - that's why they attack the Marines, but don't go anywhere near Freeman, as he is being used/manipulated by the rebellion, through the G-Man.
The details aren't that important, but I'm just trying to point out... try and be a bit more imaginative, or something, it's fun.
Sorry for off-topiccing.

I don't think the Combine possess Nukes to be honest. Thats a human weapon, and probably pales in comparison to what the Combine are capable of.

ture, for all we know they're rip off star wars and builded 4 death stars :frown:

Race X would be pretty a cool third party, though we'll never see them again. But, nonetheless, this third party has me...intrigued to say the least. It could be the true Combine, but here's to hoping Valve throws in another group in there.

It could be possible - judging from Gmans "I have recieved some interesting offers for your services."

Personally I think the Combine have more class than to use spaceships. Spaceships are like, so last year. Bring on the teleportation

What about an allied group? If the combine have more people, so should you. It could be more agents of the G-Man...

The Combine have countless enslaved races at their disposal. I've a feeling they'd rather see Earth and its human population crushed, in order to ensure no other races gain wind of the rebellion. The last thing they need is an all out rebellion across the universe :p

I'm pretty sure this third party is the group putting in a bid for Freeman.

Adrian Shephard can crawl back to the dam hole he came from, the weed. Though I admit, with Freeman AWOL, Gman may have to fall back on something...

Maybe even...a more powerful group than the Combine? Almost like an AI...God type of thing. Maybe Valve read Edcrab's story n_n.

He'll probably feature in the fourth one. And I wonder just how hard it will be for G-Man to make Gordon comply.

Nah, AI is a leele cliche, and wouldn't really factor too well in the Half-life universe, which to me has always been incredibly unique. I doubt something more powerful than the Combine, I always got the impression that Valve were trying to put across that these chaps were the most powerful buggers in the universe.

Interrrrestinnggg.

When someone got the scans, give us a shout. ;)

Meh, I doubt they would use a nuke. Now a series of mortars raining down on their target...I can see that happening.

I reckon orbital bombardment is their flavour. Probably just with something really big, like an asteroid, or a moon, say.

well the thing your talking about "orbital bombardment" in babylon 5 they used something called a MassDriver which isn't to far off from the G-gun i have to say, it could work

ok, i was just curious who used it against who, i don't really remember B5 that well..... I sense we have gone wildly off-topic.

Nice info

i wish i could see some scans *hint* *hint*

There could be a happy medium. I remember in the game Marathon, the Pfhor, an alien race, used spaceships and dropships but also used teleportation to ground level.

Actually the Combine and Pfhor have some similarities; the whole hegemony based empire thing. The only difference is that the initial pfhor didn't become useless slugs unlike the Advisors. :D

Bring on real Combine footsoldiers ftw!

It'll be interesting to see what this "third power" is. Nice info, hope the AM release date stays on track. I don't know, but I have a feeling that E1 is going to raise the bar as far as expansions go.
