Episode 1 won't load

I get as far as the menu and select new game. It satrts loading but just before it loads it comes up with an error:

It's not worked on my computer before but that was before I had the Orange Box. Now I've got the Orange Box installed (and yes, before you ask, I do have a valid Steam account). How can i get the game to run?

Since it's a DirectX issue (Seems to be), try setting your launch parameters to have "-dxlevel 80" without quotes. Right click the game in steam, select properties, then it should be self-explanatory from there.

Beware it will reset all your settings if you leave it in the launch parameters whenever you start the game, so remove it after launching Ep1 once and it should stay in Dx8 mode.

It's not working again. :frown: I can play the game but I get as far as the first loading scene in Lowlife then it comes up with the same error message and shuts down the game.
