Looks awesome on the 360. I bet the PS3 version will have some performance issues!

Looking awesome but I wonder where Alyx is at that part maybe this is one of those parts where we're separated from her.
 
Actually did anyone notice in the beginning that you can hear someone talking maybe it's Griggs or Sheckly who's talking to Alyx.
 
I love the new fire effects, and Motion blur! I hope Valve releases more videos on steam.
 
Hm i have question. How (on PC)[command] see so big part of weapon on videos you see end of smg but on pc u cannot se it.
 
That is because the video is recoreded in wide screen.
How come I've never seen that Nob near the back of the sot gun before?
 
Hmmm. Still not liking the new splatter effects. It wouldn't be so bad if they added more decals, but as it is...
 
OMG, the fire looks ****ing kickass! Thats one thing that bothered my in Half-Life 2 and now its wow!
 
Love the fire and particle effects! And hooray for the return of Zombies!
 
I'm definitely liking the new fire effect - looks much better. Hopefully it doesn't look as silly when looking down from above.
 
One thing I only just noticed about HL2, is that they used rotating sprits for quite a few things. Like the fire was easy enough to spot, but some of the foliage too!

GREAT FOOTAGE BTW! Never seen that before.
 
That gamespot footage was awesome, now that is what I call crazy, hunters everywhere shooting darts at you and striders attacking you. I wonder if that is the ending battle or rather part of it where so far many previews have been saying that it's so awesome. Also the strider buster dispatcher is exactly what we sow in that one screenshot before when we thought it was breen.
 
Wow, the Strider Buster looks much better in its use now - actually exploding on impact. I also love how the Hunters defend the Strider.
 
I wonder if that guy who was shouting out where the striders are was Magnusson or some other rebel, for some reason it doesn't sound like Magnusson to me. I got to say though that ep2 will have the most epic fight ever in the half life series imo.
 
I hope it's Magnusson. There's probably nothing better than being pitted against an entire squad of Striders and Hunters whilst some pompous douche starts barking out at you through the speakers...
 
Another thing I noticed was that there doesn't seem to be any combine soldiers in that final battle. Maybe they are considered useless compared to the Hunters and Striders.
 
Loving the logs. Though the lack of proper fragmentation is still annoying me. The hunter just got blasted with a log! He should have been thrown back a little...

The new effects look a bit cartoony tell you the truth. All shiny.

I don't think the Buster exploded on impact. If you pay attention you'll notice darts stuck to it. Those darts probably destroyed it prematurely.
 
If you look closely in gameplay movie 6 you could see a bit of white forest. So I guess the main point of the final battle is to defend white forest. I was right that Alyx stays behind in white forest while you take out all the striders. Although it would be cool if Dog helps you defend the base, imagine seeing him taking out Striders while you take out Hunters.

The thing is, he doesn't do it enough. He stays on his feet. It's a bit annoyed to throw barrels at things and all they do is shrug it off. They should stumble and things like that.
 
He's an agile, alien tripod with metal plating. I think the shudder he gave when being hit by the log was fine. The soldiers could probably do with a little more flinching, I agree, but too much and you break the combat in a way it isn't built.
 
That was actually a common... "bug" with the gravgun in HL2.

If you shoot something at an enemy point blank style, it wont receive the full impact damage.

If he backed up a meter or two, the hunter would have died.
 
The new fire looks amazing. It was definately the biggest knock on the original half life 2 graphics, but now it looks pretty good.

i do hope that the splatter effects are exclusive to the consoles, i dont like them at all.
 
I also beleive valve toyed around with the fire effects, making it look fine when seen from above.

The ep1 fgd update to Hammer showed a possible "Visible From Above" flag to the entity "env_fire". (Although it crashed in the current ep1 build :hmph:)
 
I'm guessing waves of striders and hunters marching to white forest base, and you have to stop all waves before they get there. Sounds very fun.
Also, there seems to be buildings around white forest that serve as "distraction" if you fail once or twice.
Achievement #54 seems to hint that.

Save all buildings outside the missile silo from destruction.
 
Holey crap! That guy sounds almost like a sport commentator "Now we have a strider coming in by the water tower." except a bit more useful.

Defeat in the battle is letting one of those strider's shoot their big cannon at the base itself, sort of like letting Breen escape. "A predictable failure Dr. Freeman."

He's shooting at the buster, to take it out.

Hunters are obviously set to "hate" the busters, thus attempting to destroy them whenever they can.
