Episode 3?

I don't know were to post this so i will do it here.we know that ep1 was in the whole city we know that ep 2 takes place in the forrest. Were will ep3 take place? another city the mountains? who knows. anyone have any ideas? and after ep3 will there be a ep4 or will half life to change to half life 3 and do the whole ep thing again like hl3 ep1.
 
I wonder if we can go to Xen or the Combine homeworld. *thinks of Xen in Source and drools*

Also I stand by what Gabe said that the episodes are HL3 *holds up flame shield*
 
We can only assume that Episode 3 takes place in the Arctic, finding Judith and "The Project" up north. Personally, I can't wait for the snow effects. Expect more open-plan fighting a la Episode 2, but also interior fighting where the project is housed and perhaps on a boat. :naughty:

Episode 4 is supposedly a whole new story arch, set during the HL2+Episodes timeline. Many speculate it is set during the Lost Week where the rebellion starts, but no one knows anything yet. It may even have stopped development, as many assumed it would be Turtle Rock making it, but they are now busy with Left 4 Dead.

After Episode 3/4, who knows where the series will take us. The Episodes are a trial run for Valve in Episodic content. If they are successful (which, so far, they have been), HL3 may well be in Episodic format as well. I can only assume that, if and when they do this, they will clearly indicate the end of HL2 and the beginning of HL3.

There is no point in yet guessing what HL3 will consist of. It is almost a given we will be playing as Gordon Freeman again, and that the antagonist will still be The G-man. The Vortigaunts will probably still play some sort of role and we will learn more about the order of the universe etc. There is no way of telling whether we will still be fighting the Combine or not. Will the Episodes see the end of the Combine for good? Or just Earth's liberation? Or perhaps nothing at all?

Bloody hell, some people just never listen do they? They are considered HL3 because of their storyline relevant content. They are not like expansion packs that are hardly necessary to get the whole story of a game, or to carry on to the next sequel. They are considered HL3 because of their production values. They are being made as important a full product because of their importance in the franchise. Why the hell would they put HL2 on the packaging if they were literally meant to be HL3? I bet Gabe is rolling in his proverbial-grave after the amount of unnecessary confusion that comment caused.
 
I believe that episodic content will be used in HL3, with eventually seeing an hour of playing time everyweek like a tv series. In one of the recent interviews valve said if they had access to the bandwidth, they definately undertake an hour of playing time a week released on steam.

How on earth could they maintain quality if they had to release an hour a week? :|

That's the equivalent of a 50+ hour game in one year..
 
Well thats what was discussed and it wouldn't last an entire year lol, maybe a month max
 
The artic? That means that the series does take place in europe and they must be going torwds greenland or russia or someplace that is snowing. The coool thing will be is that you can see how different the world is then. Cause u will be traveviling around. If only there was a mod that valve would make showing the world and all the countrys and stuff. That would tell u what happend.:O to them

Its one of the interviews that was done over a live broadcast, posted on here recently, cant be bothered finding it but I swear thats an idea that Valve would like to try out.
 
For all you people who once said "The HL2 episodes are HL3 duhhhh lolz!!1!one", I think YOU ARE WRONG.

Just an opinion.
 
Hopefully it isnt dragged out to long. Dont make it like the movie Rocky. Half Life 12 Episode 7 doesnt appeal to me.
 
there can never be too many half lifes for me i will stick with the series as far as they go.

He's generalising from the Eastern Europe setting; to my knowlege Valve hasn't disclosed which country specifically HL2 is set in and probably won't, either.

Ever notice all the Russian letters on buildings?

And somebody had gotten ahold of the general coordinates of where HL2 takes place, and its a small city in the mountains near the Black Sea...

Also, on the topic of ending the series/half life 2 and passing on to half life 3.
VALVe have a lot of pressure on their shoulders now, if they explain everything (or at least partially), it HAS to be a damn good story, i know i'd feel left down If the half life series ends by a "Gman is gordon from the future" or a "it was all a dream".

My guess: the half life series will end on a cliffhanger, forever to be left unsolved.

I've actually managed to never have seen a movie or book or anything that actually ended with the whole thing being a dream, and I think it would be cool.
 
ALL A DREAM!!!!!!!!! man gordan must have some huge huge imagination to dream ALL THAT EVERYTHING. and if it was a dream how come when u die u don't wake up. If valve takes the seires far I mean really far no way in the end would it have it were gordan wakes up and its a dream. My idea if it were a dream.. Gordan wake up wake up! u were supposed to be in the test chamber an hour ago!...............................That would be a good wake up. then having it were a huge boom and monsters start to appear.. It would be like he had seen the future and was now living it. But I still don't think its all a dream if it were I would be mad and send bad letters to valve and hate them for it. I would never buy another game made by them AGAIN! still it is not a dream and gman is not gordan from the future. he sure got weird if he is wich he is NOT.
 
It is indeed russia if u look at the flyers on walls and stuff u see ads for russian cars and other things. One of my friends if looking at towns citys all over russia on the net trying to see what city resembels the city 17 the most. he found one its near a forest it near montains and a sea u know that old bank or wtf ever that building was with that plasma cannon? he found a pic that looked JUST LIKE IT the grounds and everything ALL OF IT. and it was in a city/town what ever it is.

Not only Russia has Cyrillic type writing. It could be Bulgarian or whatever other Eastern Bloc Country.

By the way, there are posters around town saying Cafe Baltic. WTF mountains? Where?
 
yeah i lot of the eastern counties have russian style dialect and writting like ukraine and bulgaria etc

AND there is no way in hell Valve will make it all to be a dream, that would be one of the lamest endings to ever grace....anything, even worse than the AVP ending. As long as Half-Life makes money, the story will go on.
 
Its too good a game and story to say it was all a dream. plus they would make alota people very very mad at them.

Well, we really haven't seen this "Gordan" character yet, you never know what Valve is going to do with him (her?).
 
Um u play as gordan. No u have not seen him but people see u. plus it has to be a guy why would alex be hiting on gordan otherwise unless she is well......thats weird. And there are pics of what he looks like so why even say that.

My bet is that EP3 will take place in the artic.

Who says anything about snow? You all forgot one important note of hl2 - the combine are draining the earth out of it's reasources, that doesn't exclude water. So I think there is no snow there left.
