This shit jumped to my face like a 4-day hungry headcrab:

It was confirmed in April 2006 that Half-Life 2: Episode Four was in production, and that it would mark the start of a new story arc. Furthermore, it was confirmed that Episode Four was (and we must assume still is) under development at a third-party studio under Valve's supervision.

Found it while swimming in wikipedia...
HOLY MOTHER OF JEBESUS! What is this? What is it about? If its an external studio (Let's hope its Gearbox, ensuring the return of ASHPD), then we are in for a treat.
Ill write to Gabe and ask for more info...
Please, post you thoughts and speculations.

Perhaps you won't be playing as Gordon in this one

Adrian Shepard? Me says: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! Oh F**k me, OH F**K ME!!!!!!!! DAMNIT! Argh shepard.

It's true. Ep4 will have a standalone story and is being made outside of Valve. That's all we know at this point.

I couldn't find anything on Wikipedia, either. Could you please give a link, if one exists?

i think you're just emulating those you admire :E

er... sorry. Here, a link for the article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Half_life_2
Its in the mid-low section, just as a passing commentary. Still, its exiting to hear that the universe is getting an exotic, foreign touch.... that of an third Party Studio.
And Wally_Breen, i hate you. Your posts, and fervient dislike of such awesome characters like Alyx or Adrian, cause a great sense of sicknes inside me. At least, make some of your posts more elocuent and polite, rather than shouting and gibering like Mel Gibson in The Passion Of The Jew....
I still respect your opinion, but find it repulsive. Nothing personal, it's just thread-ish.

i hope you play a citizen or somthing, that'd be cool , i think i rember a quote fro m a magazine , " can we ever play as alyx" "it doesnt sound like it cant happen" or somthing like that, so possibliy alyx as the forth episode?

wikapideia is a user edited site... i could make a page saything there is going to be a half life 3 and post a bunch of whoo-ha and photoshoped pix and stupid people will think its real.

PC Gamer, in an article about Episode 2 I'm guessing?

QFT, dont trust things based only on wiki.

So, what we're looking at is a link to a section on wikipedia, that the sole source for is a discussion on this very site? A discussion that doesn't seem to have any verifiable external online source? STFU.GTFO.NOOB! Valve doesn't leak information like that, they control the deets that are released about their work, to the effect that when something is official, you know it's OFFICIAL and thus gets front page news treatment here.

Valve never said that. Valve only said Episode Four will have a stand along plot.

It was mentioned/announced that more episodes were in [pre]production by another developer.
It has been announced that Turtle Rock Studios are working on a source game.
I'll leave the math to you.

Ofcourse, these things change, so what was true 3 months ago may not be true now.

I'm 99% sure gearbox isn't working with valve anymore now that they are established as a fairly renowned developer with [i assume] a very healthy economical status.

Personally I would be delighted if TRS took the step up into the big-league with a cool and inventive title in the half-life2 world. They have done good things for cs/css and I think although they are small they could be up to the task.

.bog.

Episode four? If it's real I mean come on...move on valve...stop milking everything out of HL2 for cash!

Most of the articles in Wiki is TRUE, probably except NK or any other most sensitive and hottest topics. If you guys don't read an encyclopedia just because you "think" it is wrong, well, I can explain why you people are being so ignorant.

Yeah, like the entry on François Quesnay that read "HE WAS A GAYASS FAGGY FAG WHO LIKED DOING GAY FAGS IN THE ***, LOLOL F**K YOU", right?

This particular can encyclopedia to be edited by anyone...how do you know which are right and which are wrong when you go to look for information not found elsewhere?

First, you can distinguish the wrong from right if you have common sense. Like when you search for Pericles, you can match it with the Greek history you know to see whether it is consistent. For some scientific truth, you can match it with the phenomenon in reality to see whether it is true. Second, most of the information in encyclopedia is right since there are monitors, and the montors is the public. Pages which is wrong can be corrected by disputation. Upon the world, there is not so many evil saboteurs like you. most of the people with morality will gladly correct the information. Since it is publicly edited, the articles can be always corrected. Unless the topic is too sensitive, no one will make it wrong. Even so, if the article is frequently being changed, official monitors will lock the post and have it correctly mended. I guess you really don't know how encyclopedia works.

You need to get your facts straight before you start calling me an 'evil saboteur'. Just because it's moderated doesn't its reliable. There is a reason as to why you will be discredited at most colleges if you cite sources directly from wiki.

Who the hell said DM sabotaged anything?

And this stuff about games, when people make stuff up like this, there isn't any way for them to check it, is there? Not to mention that the wiki mods probably don't care enough to lock the game sites unless it's getting REALLY out of hand.

There are several ways to check it.

The mods do care about it. They are so zealous to correct the wrong articles. That's why most of the articles has reached the wiki standards. People who don't really care about it simply would not join the wiki team, if they are that lazy. People who chose to join wiki are of course willing to do their part.

You must understand why people are discredited. They search for information in wiki means they are too lazy to find a book. Your mark is deducted because of your laziness. In most of the cases, getting information from the Internet will be discredited, not only in wiki. The point is the professors want people to read the most reliable books, not ramdomly browse any website.

Where did I say I lost anything? I learn this stuff from my teachers by talking to them. Please read my post before making assumptions :hmph: . And yes I know professors prefer books but they dont mind the use of internet as a resource.

If there is any other source referring to Ep.4's making, plz link.

Your mark will be deducted unless you make use of some sites which are made by famous professors. So we have to be extremely careful when we use a site. Most of them are making us discredited.

 Assumption?

Lets just get back on topic, this has nothing to do with 'Ep.4' anymore, if you REALLY want to know just PM me.

I may be wrong, but didn't Gearbox work on the X-box version of Half-Life 2?

I think Ep:4 is going to introduce a new character. If it is Adrian AGAIN, well that's going to be too similar to Gordon's. Perhaps Ep:4 will just like Op4, i.e., a different story standing on the same timeline of Ep:1-3.

I hope you play Gordon Freeman in Episode four. Or there is no reason to play it. It would be like a completely different game. Thats gonna be a bunch of BS if you play someone else besides Gordon!!!
