Episode Four..... WTF!?!?

Adrian's time is over. He had his ultanium, and its time to forget him.
I hope we play as a soldier, or a Vortigaunt. Citizen's are a little "meh" IMO, because really Gordon was a Citizen.

hmmm....more like a 'rouge scientist frozen for 20ish years come to free humanity'

Episode 4 will have a stand along plot and is being developed outside Valve

Seems like speculation on PGC's part to me. That's a pretty big thing just to briefly mention without any actual quote from Valve. Also seems unlikely that they would get anyone else to work on their franchise any more. Plus that article is from April, if it were accurate and definite I'd think we'd have heard more about it since then.

Gearbox have had nothing to do with Valve for a long time, and Valve did the X-box version themselves.

Ah, yes. I knew I was wrong.

Now to never again listen to the person who told me Gearbox did the X-box version. :|

Yes I did, but it is nonsense.

You don't read PC Gamer do you (yes, I know they suck, but the VALVe employer being interviewed said there would be a Epi 4). Apparently, a seperate developer is making it. *shudders at the thought of Gearbox*

Yes, I do. But the PC Gamer never announced or mentioned that more episodes were in (pre) production by another developer. I know there is going to be an Episode 4 and I know it is going to be produced by another developer. That's not what we were talking about.

"source"?

Don't think you know more than me, because believe me baby, you don't.

.bog.

Oh and what do you know that the rest of us doesn’t know, 'baby'? Nothing I bet. I don’t know more than you do and you don’t know more than I do.

So basically you are just nitpicking about my usage of the word "more"? In that case I guess we have a misunderstanding on our hands. I did not mean to imply that there factually are "more" episodes in [pre]production apart from episode4, allthough I would say that is highly likely to be the case given the inherent nature of episodes.

And apart from that I would beat you in jeopardy any day of the week... :p

Yeah :) Although I wouldn’t call it nitpicking. If apart from Episode 4 more episodes were announced, it would be pretty big news on these forums.

But sorry for the misunderstanding.

Yes they did i posted about this a while ago. Read my post on the 1st page.

PC Gamer US interviewed Valve and Valve said it plain and simple, 4 episodes are planned. Episode 3 closes the Half-Life 2 story arc. Episode 4 is a stand alone episode developed by another developer.

ya... I think it would be pretty cool to play through Half life 2 through barneys eyes... that way you get to see how civil protection and the combine live day to day... that would be cool... like " separate ways " in resident evil 4

Gordon didn't need the g-man to save his life. :p

I never understood that in Opposing Force. G-man couldn't even use Shepherd because of his employers, so why did he waste time saving him?

Do you think G-man thought Shepherd might of been the better man for the job instead of Freeman, but when it came down to it in the end, Freeman proved himself to be the better candidate?

All the Shep haters know even if Episode 4 is about Shepherd, you'd still buy it .

The G-man kept Sheapard for "inusrance policy" if anything would go wrong with Freeman. Now that G-man lost control of him , it would be pretty much the only chance for Valve to bring back Adrian if he is really part of Valve's plan.

It might be good yes, but I'd prefer a new character, like a Combine Soldeir or something. We saw the citizens POV(hint, hint) with Gordon, now we need to see some elses.
Off-topic, but isn't there a 3rd-person tactical game being develpoed by VALVe( it was in an old magazine). ALA 7-hour war?

No, he didn't.Adrian saw Race-X and is the only (known) person to survive. Then only reason the G-Man kept Adrian alive was because he reminded the G-Man of himself, but he couldn't let Adrian go in case he talked. At least, thats what it appeared to me.
(On a side note, since the whole world knows about Black Mesa, it wouldn't make sence to hold him for seeing the Incident...aw well).:p

EDIT: Sorry about the double post, it was a complete accident.

I'd still play it if it was Shephard. Hell, might even enjoy it. I'd just rather see a new character.

I'll play Episode 2 first before I start thinking about episodes 3 and 4. But Shepherd better be there in one of them.

New characters? Adrian is NEW , we know nothing about them and the fact that the episodes are from Gordon's POV give a chance to flesh out Adrian - common we don't know how the guy even looks.

Maybe those 2 guys who build your car in Ep2 will be added to the "cast" of the game.

Perhaps, but I suspect there just side characters (and I don't mean like Grigori or Cubbage). I mean like Boxcar Joe or Manhack Matt or whatever.:D

It's impossible to flesh out the player's character in a HL game. How fleshed out is Gordon? Sure, he has a bit of a story attached to him but no personality or anything.

I think Valve have put a bit of personality in there. There's hints of it, and the way characters percieve Gordon within the dialogue.

That's the point , Adrian is no longer the player's character.

Considering that its mentioned in passing in that article, full-sclae plans may not yet be in place for anything. It might just be a 'that's the plan' sort of thing. But I wouldn't be surprised if Turtlerock's Source game turned out to be Ep 4 (and yes I'm sure that Turtlerock would be the one to make it).
