Calling a continuation of the HL story a 'glorified map pack' seems, to me, to be missing the point of the entire exercise.

Pfft, Indiana Jones sequels. Just glorified location...pack...shoots...well, you get what I mean anyway.

The sequels to the first indiana jones movie are what hl2 was to hl1, not what hl episode 1 is to hl2. So thats an unfair comparison.

When most games priced around $50 can be blown through in about 8 hours?

Those games get critisized for it too, so why wouldn't episode 1 be crtisized also + add to that what geagrif allredy said.
