According to Valve at least. CVG has posted an
article
after speaking to them. Apparently the Half-Life 2: Episode Two's emotional final scene was powerful enough to cause fans to shed a tear.[br]

"Quite a few fans wrote to say that we broke the blubbering barrier. They wept",
Half-Life story scribe Marc Laidlaw has revealed to PC Zone magazine.[br]

There is a bit more to read in the article but it does contain spoilers. If you haven't played the ending yet I don't recommend you view it!

It's one of the moments where you can't help but to look back and laugh.
First experience was terrifying :(

Shed a tear?

I doubt many did. It was not really emotional in my eyes. But each to his own I guess.

So what if i cried i am not a baby ;(
It was really strange cause no game of film ever made me feel like that, i'am so ashamed.

I laughed really hard at that scene. The first scene I was like "wtf is that a penis...AHAHAAH!" Then the final scene I was like "LOL he gonna get his cranium skull ****ed ahahaha". The thing seriously looks like a long, slimy, veiny penis. Even has a tip at the end of it. :p I was expecting the death too. I knew that somebody was going to die in the episode and since this was the last few minutes, something was gonna happen. The lighting and open area made it feel like it was an ambush. Then Samon had to spoil it too long before the episode came out. :hmph:

i couldnt stop crying, i spent most of the day after finishing Ep2 under a cold shower washing of the horrible feeling, ... "i cant get the blood of my hands !! the blood wont come of !! :'("

I felt a bit miserable afterwards, and a bit of genuine hatred towards the combine advisor's....

Then a day later, I realized "What the hell, I'm getting all emotional over a game."

I cried because of the fact that the episode was finished ALREADY after thinking; *I must be halfway now*, and knowing that I'll have to wait atleast another year to play some more.

hahaha, wait wait ! who really cried ?

Sounds like a bunch of sissys need to harden the **** up :E

only a gay man would think that.
also i didnt cry but it was a very sad moment.

I didn't even come near shedding a tear. :/

What are you guys emo?.

How did I manage that one? :p
Oh come on now. :p All the "who will die" threads in the rumor section and you giving all the support for Eli to die.
only a gay man would think that.
I'm not gay but it was pretty obvious. Just like the leech scene in the new King Kong. I started laughing at that scene in the theater including some woman behind me.

I didn't actually cry, but I came close. That surprised me and showed just how good Valve are getting at this. (Few movies even manage to make me bleary eyed, however hard they try.)

STFU. There's a big difference between being a crestfallen attention-whore and showing healthy human emotions once in a while. :hmph:

I wasn't sad or anything. I dunno if I was expecting it, or what...? Maybe it was because I was watching my dad play it.

Oh what were you doing there? You shouldn't watch the ending! :O

I wasn't allowed to use the computer then, but I could watch him play. So I did.

He always seemd to be looking the wrong way when things happened... like that bridge at the beginning, etc. At least at the last part, he couldn't move :/

In two scenes in Episode 2, my computer just dies and the frame rate goes down to about 0.5 - Alyx being healed and the Gman's speech, and the very end scene. The rest of the game is fine. So, I had to YouTube it. I was sad, but not crying sad.

I heard heapsize can fix it if you set it to half of the system RAM. That usually happens with 512mb Ram people.

Real men don't cry..they keep all their emotions to themselves and ultimately go shoot up a school/office.

I felt so wierd...just sitting there with the controller hanging loosely in my hand and hearing Eli tell his own daughter to close her eyes to avoid seeing a spike go straight through her father's head. Yeah I cried, and like I said in an earlier thread, you must have a heart of stone to not at least have cried inside.

Do you know the actual method?

I'm not sure if it actually fixes it, but anyway:

On your steam launch options for Ep2 you add:

-heapsize 256000 (assuming you have 512mb of RAM, if you have 1gb you set -heapsize 512000, for example. It's just half of your RAM).

That allocates more RAM to the game or something like that. I hope it works.

Well that's a good CHOice.

I felt sad, but I didn't really cry or anything. After all, I expected his death.

I don't think what I felt was sadness, more of disturbed feeling induced by the idea of a giant, floating maggot sucking someone's brains out with a bendy straw.

Hey Munro, glad to see you jumped on the funny-picture-front-page bandwagon only a few years late! :D
