Episode Two - Price Details Emerge

And for people who don't want Portal and/or TF2?? They shouldn't shove stuff down our throats.

I believe they are bundled for free with HL2: EP2, I also believe that there is absolutely no requirement to play either as part of completing HL2: EP2. same as you weren't required to play CS: S even though it came bundled with HL2.

I'm not entirely sure what the purpose of your complaint is tbh. Perhaps you might provide a rationale to it?

People who dont want to play Portal do realize that its PART OF THE HALF-LIFE STORY....right?

Man im boiling on the inside when i read shit like. OMG TO MUCH.

THEY ARE MAKING US BUY SHIT..

**** YOU and **** your cheap ass.

/flaming.

This is the only topic i really become so pissed off i cant hold myself on.

We all love you Smash.

Ill be pre-ordering over Steam as soon as possible!

Prolly play Portal first ;)

Most Half-Life players are ether extremely poor. Or are ****ing idiots..

Your complaining about these prices your plain out retarded.

TF2 and Portal are bundled with EP2, but that does not make them "free". It makes them "bundled". I cannot see how EP2 could be $40 on its own if the extras are considered to be free.

It's like when we had the older Bronze/Silver/Gold steam packages. Some people said that the Silver package came with HL:Source for "free". No it didn't - it was more expensive than Bronze because it came with more stuff.

Anyways, just answering for the dude; personally I want all the stuff, and have no problems with paying $40 for goodness. Cheers!

Wow. Keep fighting the good fight.

Hey...does anyone know if when you buy this retail package, does it include an individual CD key for each game...or is it just one global CD key that adds all the games to your account once used?

If it was individual, it would be pretty sweet as I'd just buy the Orange Box seeing as you basically get Half-Life 2 for free when you take into account how much EP1 is (here in Newfoundland anyway) so you could give the copy of Half-Life 2 (the CD key) to a friend or something.

Anyone follow what I'm trying to say...? lol

Gonzell

I follow and disagree.

When you buy the Organce box you will only get ONE cd-key for the entire package and it will more then likely have the games on 1 DVD or more, yet not a DVD per game.

I also doubt that thety will release a CD version since Ep1 was DVD only and HL2 was 5CD's by itself, not to mention with Ep1, ep2, tf and portal.

PS. Orcone is noob...edit: damn my usernames are diff, guess he thinks im just some random calling him a noob ;)

I wonder what the mark up will be this time. Shops over here charged practically double the Steam price for EP1.

Wow talk about the blind fanboy who only thinks himself/herself as absolutely correct! I don't give a **** about Portal or TF2. I want to play only Episode 2. If Valve are not going to sell EP2 separately, personally for me it will be really sad indeed. No way I will pay $40 for for the stuff that I do not want to buy in the first play.

Just buy the game as a stand-alone through Steam.

I'm also very disappointed here. I want Ep2, have no interest in TF2, might want to try Portal (HL universe and all). I'd pick an Ep2+Portal package, but the 40 bucks package is too expensive. I don't particularly enjoy the thought of paying for TF2 in a bundle though I don't want it/. Here's hoping Ep2 can be bought standalone.

No surprise from someone whose sig says 'Say NO to steam' 2 years after it's launch (it's not going away...get over it already). Valve announced the bundle about 6 months ago, the only news here is the price, which is almost exactly the same as what they retailed EP1 at...what gives.

And you're just blind :p Read the news post and you will see that you can actually buy EVERY game stand-alone.

My objections to Steam are technical and not ideological. Besides, I like the latest version better, so a more correct summary of my feelings now would be "Say MEH to Steam". Oh, and the composition of the bundle itself isn't directly relevant to Steam.

Many people couldn't give two shits about the HL story and just want to play a good FPS and not want a puzzle game.

Bout time you changed your sig then ;)

Remember, as per usual, all of these titles will be available individually through Steam's a la carte system as well. Of course, this means you won't be owning a bright orange or dull black box if you decide on going this route.

Sorry for the bump, but it seems that my suspicions are confirmed. On the first page I complained that we wouldn't be able to buy the games/mods separately, taking consumer choice out of the equation. Many of you (understandably) rushed to Valve's defense with the quote above taken from the IGN interview.

Now I get this from the Game Informer interview news post:

When launched, however, you won?t be able to just purchase Episode 2, Portal or Team Fortress seperately. You'll have to buy a package.

What gives??

And people called ME blind.

Hopefully, they are describing the situation at Retail, and not on Steam. It wouldn't make sense for Valve to abandon the current individual purchase scheme available through Steam. I'd trust the example set by Valve's past practices over the gaming press' take on things any day.
