Is it the best movie ever made or one of the worst you've ever seen? Also, thoughts on what it is really about would be apreciated.

Not the best and not the worst. It's just *different*. I don't think you can really like Eraserhead, since as far entertainment factor goes it's pretty slow, but you can appreciate it for its artistic qualities and the fact that Lynch did break some new ground. It's probably his most "out-there" movie to date.

Originally it was over 2 hours, but a test screening showed that this was just too much for people. Its a great film that should be looked at by anyone who considers themselves a movie buff or is in film school. The artistic merit of this film cannot be overstated. I wouldn't even put it in the same class as 90% of other films. The black and white, the desolation, the isolation, the cinematography, the symbolism, the study of relationships--its all done with remarkable talent. A great film for any collection, though one you might not view over and over again (unless of course, like I said, you were a film student).
