Ok, so I bought a PCI TV tuner card from CompUSA (http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?product_code=333088&pfp=cat3) so I could watch TV on my comp. I install the card, hook up the cable and attach the audio cable to the Line IN on my sound blaster live! 24bit sound card, just like the manual says to. So I install the software, start it up, and do the auto channel scan. Everything works good. I can see every channel clearly and hear it perfectly.
Now the problem is when I try to record a show or clip. Last night was my first try at it, I wanted to record an episode of Aqua Teen Hunger Force. So I hit the record button, and watch the episode. When its over I stop recording, and save the file as "athf". Then I try playing it with winamp. The video shows up perfectly, and the picture is great. But I realize that I dont hear anything. I turn up the volume and notice that the audio just recorded really quietly, and from the sound of it, really crappily. So now I just record some small clips to see if I can find out whats wrong. I try a bunch of different formats (mpeg4, wmv, avi etc) and get no result. So now I am puzzled.
I watch the video again and realize I hear some other stuff... I turn it up higher and the sound gets really "poppy" and cackling, but I hear my brother?!! So for some reason it was using my microphone to record the sound.... Why? I tried turning off the mic, and then i just get no audio in recordings whatsoever. So I am wondering how I am supposed to get audio directly from the tv show. I have attached a picture to show how the cables are set up on my cards, but I am thinking that maybe I need to enable some sort of recording option on my sound card that I dont know of?
I will be in debt to any and all who help me solve this rather annoying problem.
