Error 1305

hey guys,

i was wondering if you can help me. i just bought hl2 and i have been trying to install it and the installation stops at the same point every time. after about 30 minutes of running the installation an error screen pops up that says: "Error 1305. Error reading from file: C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\Steam Apps/base source shared materials.gcf. Verify the file exists and that you can access it." is there anything that you can suggest that i do?

Sounds like there may be a problem with that particular GFC file. Did you download it or buy it retail?

isnt that a problem with one of the warez copys of the game?

that happened to me. i tried to reinstall and it worked fine.

Uhh

i bought it retail.

i have tried to reinstall about 10 times.

i even replaced my cd drive cause i thought that that was the problem, but that didn't work either.

it's pissing me off that's for sure.

If that's the 4th CD, then it's a common bug.

Choose a full installation that includes Counterstrike: Source and that will fix it.

its still the first cd.

i have tried not installing cs and i have tried installing cs

neither way works

should i just return it and try another set of cds?

i still haven't got past the first one
