I just got the Orange Box, I tried installed and I got the error that no login information was on this computer. So I uninstalled Steam, everything about and anything related to it is now gone. I tried re-installing it and every time it tries to update itself if get

ERROR
Steam.exe (main exception): Unable to load library Steam.dll

Obviously my computer is online. So, how do I fix this so I can finally play me some Portal and HL2 episodes?

Try removing the clientregistry.blob that's in your Steam folder. (Make sure you exit Steam first)

Sorry, forgot to mention that I already tried deleting the blob file. I poked around on the forums a bit and saw that solution... didn't work for me.

Try deleting everything except Steam.exe and your steamapps folder. Steam should then download all of it's files, and you won't lose your games.

I haven't installed any of the games yet... just trying to get steam to install right.

Also that didn't work either... still getting the same error. Deleted everything in the folder but the .exe

EDIT: Okay.. got both steam.dll and steamUI.dll and put them into both the steam folder and my windows system folder. Now steam starts up, then after a brief moment goes away and error window pops and then goes away so fast I can't read it.

EDIT2: Alright... it seems when I clicked "Allow" and "Remember this setting" on my firewall when Steam was asking for permission my firewall thought it was opposite day and barred it. I had to go into my firewall manually and allow Steam access. Thanks for everyone who tried to help me.
