O.K. i just watched the 26th episode of evangelion.

.....
WHAT THE **** WAS THAT???
I THOUGHT THERE WOULD BE A HUGE CLIMATIC BATTLE OR SOMETHING BUT ITS JUST TEH MAIN CHARACTER PONDERING HIS EXISTANCE!!!
Basically, i understand what it was all about (EXCEPT that whole thing about humans merging... but i guess that was probally the WHOLE point), But i just have no idea why they would want to make 2 whole episodes just shinji pondering his life. they could have compressed all of that into 10 minutes!
I absolutely adored the anime up till episode 15+ (in general, nothing specific happened there). its just i felt shinji was really starting to understand himself, and break free of the lonleysess... and actuaally LOVE himself! not to mention all the Angels and GOD stuff explained a bit better. I thought there was gonna be a HUGE suprise, but instead in the final few episodes, all the characters suddenly iscolate themselves.
For example. I thought that katsuragi would actually appear as more of a mother figure to shinji, and that rei would actually learn how to love someone, and asuka would accept people for who they are rather than just seeking praise. But instead the opposite happens- the relationships that have been buit up over the anime suddenly start to break up, and the characters dislike each other and question their reality... untill the ultimate loney, depressing ANNOYING ending where shinji is IMAGINING having conversations with his "freinds". Really, i thought shinji had got over the whole "lonelyness" thing...
the ONE thing i find depressing, over everything else, is the characters never say goodbye. they all fall out, then you never see them again. Its really depressing. What kind of story has all the characters just dissapear after a dissapointingly weak and unimpressive "final" battle? i mean really, there could have actually been a moment when Shinji actually got praised by everyone for saving the world, instead of him just going mad in the eva, then suddenly going mad LITTEALLY.
am i the only person who thinks that evangelion is a pile of BULLSHITE at the end? ive browsed numerous forums on the matter, but all ive seen is people saying that the series is "OK".
but the main thing i want to know is, are the movies any good? because i hear they are just remakes of the endings, and i heard one person say that they arent actually much different. BECAUSE IF I FIND OUT THE MOVIES ARE JUST SHINJI GOING MAD FOR EVEN LONGER, THEN I WILL KILL SOMEONE. please say that in at least one of the movies they ditch all the ethical stuff, and just have a huge battle where shinji proves himself and falls in love with SOMEONE. please!
*note: i perfectly agree and understand with the ending, i just think they could have spent less than 1 hour explaining it, and possibly making it less HUGELY SOUL CRUSHING and INCREDIBLY DEPRESSING.
please answer me, i really want to hear peoples opinions on the matter!
