EverQuest 2 UK/EU Beta Thread

I got my EQ2 BETA invite on Saturday. After a 3gig (aprox) download and a couple of hours play I have to say that this game is going to bury any MMORPG out there at the moment. I've not played the WoW BETA but it'll have to be pretty impressive to sway me from this!

Anyway, on to the real reason for the thread. If you're in post your character name so we can get together in-game. My character name is Corinthar.

Specs:

AMD 3200+
1GB Geil Golden Dragon running at 400Mhz
80GB Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM HD
Galaxy Glacier 6800 (128mb, vanilla non-BT/ULTRA, slightly overclocked by manufacturer)
1MB DSL

I have it runnning on max at 1024*768 and it's pretty smooth. Some slowdown occasionally but the game is so damn pretty it's not surprising really.

I got my invite the other day, i was wondering what the whole friends and family thing was because i dont know anyone who plays. 55min till it finishes patching for me then i can play.

At the moment I am unsure about the name i will use, it'll most probably be Jeshembi Okata though.

no it doesn't. I believe that they made some changes to the NDA so that people can tell about their Beta experience up to level 9(which is just a bunch of n00bie quests and an intro).

iksar's are cool looking but i dont really wanna be a bad guy in EQ2, freeport doesnt look as fun as Quenyo (sp?). Besides i think im going for a cool mysterious kinda look for my human ranger.

Ranger's are DPS, not exactly the easiest to make look "mysterious"

Oh, and it is Qeynos, just remember Sony EQ backwards.

DPS = Damage Per Second
DOT = Damage Over Time

And dalamari, forget i said mysterious lol, more like a ruggid explorer. Have you seen the cinimatic trailer with the male human, kerra, and woman? when the male is trapped under magic bones and the woman uses magic to break it...if so than thats the look i kinda want for my human.

And damage/second is exactly that... how much damage a player averages per second... 120 damage in one minute is 2 damage/second...

So far I'm impressed with it. The graphics are the best I've ever seen in a MMORPG and the gameply is good. They do seem to be having issues with server stability/lag but that's the whole point of a BETA. I think they are stresstesting the server hardware to ensure it can take the hits. It's tough to solo as a fighter so I'm thinking about changing class. It's hard to find a group at the moment. /lfg didn't get me any ivites and I'm a lv6 warrior! Too many tanks I think. I might go a scout, see how they are.

hm possibly.. but if you try to even ask for help about hte beta or say ur o nit on the offical forums your post gets deled and you risk gettin banned. Alot of people got a warning recently whe nthey complained that their beta ke ywasnt working on the forum. Not that theres much chance anyone that amtters would see this anyway.

people should have to download a test game or something, then they have to pass the test and those who do get through... and if there are too many a second test comes etc.

it would actually work for FPS games and stuff, for MMORPGs they could do a quiz or something lol

That would be cool, but would never happen. It would get rid of all the people who are just playing to the to pass the time until the game they want releases.
