Evil Genius Demo Tommorw

I know, but what im saying is that theres no point NOT being on red alert, or yellow. Not as far as I can see, it did'nt seem to make any difference, and your allmost allways being attacked anyways.

edit: You cant order anyone but yourself (The mastermind) and your henchmen, you can issue kill tags on people, but minions rarely bother to do anything.

And the super agent was abit easy, I beat him with con workers.... :S

yeah it's probably just the demo then. i can't imagine the full game being like that.

anyone got any screens of their base layout? would be interesting to see :)

hahaha i love the interrogation! they start doing michael jackson moves! haha (and i don't mean paedophilic stuff :rolling:)

Cool, just noticed that you can capture and kill your own guys if you want to. I captured my guy and interogatted him until he died. /evil

Yeah, I had two of my minions killed because they starting running around shouting and it was annoying.
It does seem like a good game, I don't know about it being the new Dungeon Keeper though, it looks fun but not quite as good as DK.
Also, I miss the story that Dungeon Keeper had, each time battling against a different hero, who had different personalities and moving around the land, taking it over. This seems like it will be more open.

Just finished it, took me three interrogations before he spilled the beans. Cool game. Everyone else already mentioned all the good things, so I won't bother with that. Some things that made me go hmmm:

- As has been mentioned, green alert has no apparent use. All minions still do their things in yellow while still being armed and ready for an attack. It doesn't affect their loyalty or stuff like that either (it'd make more sense if they got fed up with a constant yellow alert)

- What the hell are the good guys trying to do? Find my genius unit? Blow it up? (just read they did that, explains why my armory suddenly exploded) They only seemed to walk around until they got killed, except for the armory incident.

- Certain parts of the base building process are a bit of a pain, like the two-square corridor. The corridors took up far too much space in my small mountain

- What the hell are the freezers for? The body bags just hang around there not having any apparent function. This is more a problem with the very limited helpfile they put in the demo. Only a tiny part of your minions and room got explained.

- Another small thing: I put the door to my mastermind's office on maximum security, which meant only he could use it and it would be guarded to ensure that. However, the guard thing didn't seem to work.

I can live with the corridors if the buildable area will be larger in the full game, and I assume there will be a better helpfile. The alert status thing is weird though. The guarded door without guards seems to be a bug.

Still, I definitely like the game.

You can find most things out by clicking the small 'i' that pops up next to the options in the build menu, furnish menu etc.

The freezer is used to store the bodies because having them lying around on the ground demoralizes your minions every time they walk within its sphere of influence (click on the bodybag to see it)

I interrogated the theif 6 times all uninterupted and nothing happened....

I got it, I only did it once and for some reason I got it...do you have atleast 30 minions?

Shooting your own goons with your genious is great fun.

BTW, ctrl-shift-alt-d = debug mode
and
ctrl-shift-alt-I = all items/traps/etc.

Yup, but if it doesnt have a picture in the menu, you cant use it usually, it may crash the game.

Crashes the game though, dont bother.

The damn spy wont give up, Ive interrogated him 12 times :| Each time not interupted and I even locked both from doors to ensure nothing stopped it.

Anyone else agree with me that the menu music is the most kickass thing ever?

Just bring your evil genius to the cell and click on guy you want to gloat at.

I enjoyed the demo greatly. It seemed to really have a unique style. I haven't been following this game closely, but I will try and explain somethings.

First off, the reason agents just walk around the base is because they are searching for things that generate "heat". If you double left click on some objects it shows how much "heat" it gives off. "Heat" is the thing that gains you more infamy among the worlds nations. The more heat you rack up, the more often you will be assualted and investigated. Things like heavy machine gun racks and torture devices generate heat.

In the full game, you can use valets to "confuse" the enemy. The valets will show them about and talk to them and generally distract them from their initial goal, be it investigation, bombing, freeing a prisoner, or something else.

Also about bodies. In the full game, sometimes your lair won't be on a completely secluded island. Sometimes tourists will be looking about. Having dead bodies lying around causes panic amongst the civies and will knock your heat up a lot. Make sure you build or expand your freezer and add some extra racks. I *think* bodies will go away over time if put in a freezer. As pointed out before, bodies left in your base discourage your workers and your evil plans.

Finally, this game was meant to be an "action-packed" experience of the game. Thus enemy attacks were ramped up and many features were disabled. I can't wait for the traps in the full version... "monkey in a cage" sounds sooooo promosing  ! Correct me if I'm wrong about anything above, I haven't really followed developement closely at all.

lol and i thought the agents was just stupid AI :p
Thanks for clearing that up

Heh, I love the music on that menu screen so much. Getting your genius to execute people is great :D This game is great :D Its all great :D I finally get another game of this kind to play with...I was beggining to tire of Dungeon keeper, and Theme Hospital.

I did wonder about those agents roaming my base...I usually just sounded red alert and killed them because I thought they were invading :) I ran out of freezer space pretty fast, even with the numerous extensions.

Who did you use to intterogate him? That was happening to me, and then a soldier started doing the interrogation, and the spy gave up quite quickly:)

Just click the evil genius, move the pointer over one of your guys and click. You should see a crossair appear as the now pointer, and so you right click them. He calls them over, and executes them in a rather comedic fasion.

hjavent posted in here yet, but i got the demo ages ago and ive played it through several times and i love it :D

definately getting this game... i love every part of it! i really want an amazing base with a security network and lazer defences and stuff... i cant wait till september the 28th! the whole point iof this game is to build a f*cking huge base

Yeah....Its really in the vien of Dungeon Keeper and such like...Only this one is in the style of 60's spy movies! :D Its just...Too...perfect :)

I mean come on, "henchmen" with afros and stylish suits. Orange jump suit clad cronies, and a short fat evil genius :O Woo
