Darwinism
Creatures evolve gradualy over time

Saltation
Creatures evolve in great leaps

Creationism
Evolution is a myth, we were created as is

Darwinism gets my vote.

Darwinism because I have never heard of 'saltation'. Does the process happen through salt?

I hate it when people call Evolution Darwinism. Sure, Darwin was (one of) the first to discover evolution, but so much else has been discovered about it since then that Darwin's role in uncovering the truth has been pretty small.

Basicaly things evolve in big jumps. It explains the supposed gaps in the fossil records. Think of a reptile suddenly giving birth to a bird

ummm http://www.halflife2.net/forums/showthread.php?t=102383

Anyways, saltation and Darwinism aren't necessarily separate and distinct. In a stable environment there isn't much evolution, because every role has been filled. But when say a meteor wipes out 90% of the life on earth suddenly there's a lot of empty niches and you get lots of speciation and big jumps in evolution.

So is it an actual theory or did someone just pull it out of their arse? :p

Yeah but there are many links between dinosaurs and birds (to continue with your example).
Archaeopteryx
Microraptor

The problem with saying there are missing links is that, because fossils are difficult to find, scarce and often incomplete these slow, progressive links are going to be harder to find. There may be, for example, one species of dinosaur that closely resembles another but it seems like an odd leap from one to the other - this may simp[ly be because we haven't found the link and may well never find it.
To say "The gaps can only be explained by leaps" is ridiculous.

What precisely would cause these sudden leaps?

I voted Creationsism you godless cretin.

I've never heard of Saltation before either.. I believe that the term used to explain the leaps in the fossil records for you evolutionists is Punctuated Equilibrium.

Which means...?

i voted darwinism. i think we evolved. and, like the rest of us, i've never heard of saltiflableldk2ahr43kdfjk either.

Saltation is not part of evolutionary theory.

Yeah I've just been reading that, and about puctuated equilibrium. Not sure how convinced I am, but I concede it's making more sense.

polls are useless. Popular majority votes on science are pointless as 95% of the people do not know the science and are too lazy to read up on the science (takes a long time). Democracy has no place in science. Nature, for all intenses and purposes, is the tyrant of science.

This isn't about science or which one is correct, this is about learning people's opinions/beliefs and the distribution of those opinions.

Good point. I humbly apologize for my rant:dozey:

I don't think you use the word believe when referring to Evolutionary theory.

"hey guys, I believe in Fluid mechanics"

Evolution isn't a belief. It is a fact.

Edit: Feath beat me to it.

"I believe in gravity."
"I believe in aeroplanes."
"I believe in sandwiches."

"Creationism is a myth created by the liberally elite to patronize and demean the working class!"

Sorry, but I think creationism (or Intelligent Desgin, as its called down here) is just one of the Churches more reacent attempts to control scientific research and discoveries, as it did before greats such as Newton beat the bible to a pulp.

Darwinism.

And can you not type in a green font? That kind of thing is for retards that use anime forums.

The green is a bizarre design choice for sure. What does it mean?

BRIGHT RED IS WHERE IT'S AT. GO TEAM RED! GO TEAM GO!

I am very sad that only 91% of the forum knows how science works.
That sounds like a victory, until you realize that the remaining 9%, extrapolated, equals about half a billion worldwide, if not more.

I am very sad that you don't seem to understand how statistics work.

No more comics for you!

Racing green is my favourite colour but you can't read it well! Is your green in protest of the forum theme colours rimfire?

edit: hahaha this is painful on the eyes!

I know isn't not a diverse enough sample, but 9% anti-scientists is still pretty freaking poor results in any situation.

Also, I think we can all agree that half a billion worldwide is a very conservative estimate as far as ignorance of science is concerned.

Exactly. I thought you were saying that our little forum was directly proportional to the rest of the world, and that the half a billion was an accurate estimate. K.

Also, why are you trying to kill my eyes with your font? And yes, I KNOW your font is a personal vendetta against ME. Don't even try and hide it.

I AM PROTESTING IRISHCOMPUTER'S GREEN FONT BECAUSE TEAM RED IS CLEARLY SUPERIOR! Note the boldness and underlines, which connote superiority!
