exact location of black mesa

im confused about one thing in the game...

if black mesa was in new mexico(we have all saw those canyons and all american like things) how can it be that EAST black mesa is somewhere in east europe?

did i overread something? or did i missed something?

i dont get it why all scientists are now in blackmesa and the whole eastern european population knows your name (gordon freeman)

Black Mesa East is just named that way in honor of the original facility, which was in some desert in America.

Eli Vance probably just named his lab "Black Mesa East" as a tribute to the original Black Mesa facility. He got there after the whole resonance cascade incident anyway.

i always worked on the assumption it was modelled on a european city but, as its a game, it could be anywhere. Has to look like something

Maybe Black Mesa East isn't a part of the original Black Mesa but a different facility situated in Europe but known as Black Mesa East (as it's in the East).

As for everyone knowing your name - You're kinda like the Messiah to the resistance and the rest I guess could be old colleagues?

Nah, the Black Mesa East place was created after the whole cascade incident, so it's not a different facility. At least not a real facility - more like undercover, made by Eli.

i thought about an expandation of the origin black mesa just in europe too... the game fits so good together but for me that the east european black mesa stands in europe makes no clue...

i dont like the thought that the programmer just wanted to do something different than just rebuild old black mesa locations. thats destroying the plot

Exactly! Some things that people get caught on in this game surprises me, like the guy who was all like OMG; wtf is that cat they were talking about in Alex's or cliners lab or whatever, it must be important coz he seys it twice! A secret about the G-man, it's his cat! OMG, OMG, OMG! Easter egg!!!
No, Eli was just honoring the facility which started this whole mess, therefor it is called Black Mesa East. Possibly because it's in eastern europe, or maybe simply because it's the eastern part of City 17

o, black mesa is not a town, its a sight. its just a pretty big round mesa which is completely black almost.

i dont think there is a sign, its not very accesible. its fenced off and there is like a mile between the fence and the actual mesa.

The Black Mesa in New Mexico is not the real one. I used to live in Phoenix, Arizona. And I remember seeing G-Man when I went to the Grand Canyon, so Black Mesa must be somewhere in Arizona.
