Are you admitting to your parents faults? Taking your rage out on anonymous users in a gaming forum is counter-productive isnt it? You'll still be a loser regardless if you think the ending to HL2 sucked or not.

Oh yeah, did you not get the memo? The word "bastard" is missing from your alias. Im sure the moderators can fix that for you.

And a lot of what you refer to as "reasoning" is actually little more than opinion.

That's why I didn't say I backed them up with facts (which I believe is the commoner idiom), but reason. The reasons are mine, they're there in case you would like to know why my opinion is what it is, and I certainly have no right to claim their righteousness.

I didn't like the ending either. The game IMHO was great.. but the ending. If you pay 50 dollars for a game it needs to be complete. Even if it's in the middle of a trilogy or a franchise, it should still have an ending that ties up the conflicts. The last level was WAY to easy with that gun, and the last challenge to beat the game was easy too. The last level was fun, but it was too easy. That's not how a game should end. The game should end after you do something or fight something that is the biggest challenge you've had in the entire game, then after you do that it resolves the issues. HL2 didn't do that in anyway. You get to run rampant with an overpowered gun and solve the easy puzzle that ends the game, and everyone in the city dies. Bad ending, fun game.

Yes, I would certainly shell out 50 dollars for another half-life, but I certainly hope it doesn't turn into a ten-sequel-long franchise. There's only a certain amount of ambiguous twists you can pull before interest starts flipping down the drain.

The half life series turns into something like final fantasy:

"Half life XXXVI: Gorden get shrunk down to do battle with the Gman's ass boil."

Clever? Thats all youve got is clever? Go play with timmy kiddo, you cant handle a mature argument.

Where is this mature argument at? There is the one between mithie and absinthe but you arent anypart of it. lets look at your past posts;

Clearly you have issues and you cant comprehend simple questions. Several of the levels are at the combine walls, none of the levels are named "citadel" so I was just asking him which one he was referring to. Grow up little boy.

Has Child Services questioned your parents' lack of guidance and supervision? You should be concerened. Call them, its toll free.

Now in all of these where is the maturity? Your sophomoric insults and retorts haven't the slightest shred of maturity in them. It seems quite clear that you havent the slighest clue as to the definition of maturity much less the definition of an argument.

OH and i know i am being immature so dont bother biatch

Did you not read my first post? You started the irrelevant bullshit. As you kids would say... pwn3d.

this coming from the guy with a pierced clit for an avatar.....

Anyway...i think(notice the beginning of "i think", saying this is my opinion, for all you tards out there) that the ending was horrible. I played on hard, expecting 20 hours, and it took me 10. there was just way too much health in the game. Only 6 parts made me die....and then i get to an ending where the "final boss" doesn't even fight back, but runs away from you. You chase him, and catch him in a vulnerable spot, where you kill him. The first time, i did not do it in time, and died. The second time took all of about 2 minutes...if that. Hmmmmmmmmmm.

The original HL was a challenge for me the first time i played. I wait for 6 years for the same sort of challenge. A few pyshics puzzles, and a pansy final boss don't satisfy me at all...

I hope that the ATI levels explain some more...

regardless, i expected some better answers about the combine, rather than what was merely hinted at. I had those ideas from the start.

The whole game sucked, because i DID NOT get drawn into the game like i did with the original...and running from confrontation to confrontation on the vehicle levels was way to monotonous.

BUT....

Valve have definately raised the bar for graphics and level polishing. not once did i get stuck somewhere i could not get out...and only ravenholm made me get lost...and i think that was kinda the intent with that level. I only saw one major graphical bug (a stone wall in the jetski levels). The amount of time they spent on the game is quite obvious... i just can't wait for a game that takes true advantage of the SOURCE engine. HL2 definately did not. The game just seemed to be a display of what SOURCE could do...a showcase of talents, rather than a game.

I only give the game a 70 out of 100. The game's engine, on the otherhand, I give a 200 out of 100.

The end fight was easy, but still very satisfying. Shooting those balls of energy into the core is incredibly fun.

But I thought the actual ending was genius. It made me realise that I'd only been in the gameworld for a few brief hours - just a stop along the way. I entered a while ago on a train, now I'm leaving on a train.

In a sense I never really belonged in the world. after all, I am Gordon.

The HL2 ending is like Matrix: Reloaded ending. Even though it ends abruptly and leaves things uncertain, it makes us wanting and waiting for more in the sequel to come. Very well thought of Valve!

You do know that most people thought Matrix 2 and 3 were nonsensical crap don't you? :upstare:

any forum dissing hl2 has turned into a flame forum but.

back to the topic i believe that hl2s ending worked very well because it leaves you wondering but i agree on the terms that they could of given you even a few answers, even though i believe they are trying to pull off a LOTR type story which means only the last installment will have the closure. And there is still exp packsto come.

****SPOILERS OBVIOUSLY***

Ok, I agree with you that the end fight was much too simple. If it was difficult for anyone it was simply because they could not determine what needed to be done once they reached the top. I practically stood still and destroyed the portal, and that was on Hardest difficulty.

The storyline however, in my opinion, fit perfectly.

Heres why :

- You had accomplished what G-Man wanted you to do, go in there, kick alien ass, incite an uprising, bring down the oppressive "government".

- "The Citidel" was the epicenter of all Combine activity. From what we saw from inside of it they produced military vehicles, and "created" (I guess you could say) the Combine troops. Now this facility was gone.

- The abrupt entrance by the G-Man, and ending of the game, let us know where we stood. All of the relationships Freeman has developed meant nothing besides some help along the way. Freeman is simply on contract to do the G-Man's bidding so get used to it.

- As Valve has stated in the past, they dont want Freeman to be another typical "movie star type" superhero, he's not going to fall in love and have this amazing life with Alyx, or *insert character name here*.

If you think this ending was stupid and pointless than you were obviously dreaming of some other Game development company, because this is exactly the type of thing I expected out of Valve, and I love it.

Even if I did not expect a Half Life 3 I would still be satisfied with this ending.

So did I. Someone playing a cracked version?

No. The credits start rolling and its simply white text on a black background with no music. Even my girfriend commented "no grand finale' musical score, what crap!". Ill play it again just incase I did something wrong.

The half life 2 ending was going to be really sad if G-Man didnt show up, you would have seen a big explosion and die and worse of all Gordon's Girl, Alyx. G-man was watching you and he liked what he has seen and then he leaves you.

Of course alyx didnt die not sure about the rest but gordon would never leave her and Yes there is going to be half life 3 and alyx will be in it.

--- my opinion is that the game is the best ive played and it has really good accion scenes the game even fooled me after the hover boat level when you get to -black mesa i thought i beated half of the game, dont know how i became into that decission.

it took me 5 days to beat it like 4 to 5 hours a day.

I would really love an expansion of Alyx that u get to play her role
and some opposing forces 2 or blue shift 2, i cant wait to get my hands one those.

What kind of boss would you have wanted? Breen in some sort of robot mech suit? Cheesy. A Combine alien? Wouldn't fit the story. A giant mass of soldiers storming your position? Killed enough of them already.

perhaps they made this ending so easy because there will be a halflife three, when we start playing the game we'll notice why it was so easy... dont worry they got it aaaall figured out back there at valve
