Hello, basically I can map, I have been mapping for several years and am looking to join a realistic mod team (realistic as in not 1 person with a damn crazy idea.)

Examples of my mapping can be seen here: w w w. w - c s s - m a p s . t k
http://uk.geocities.com/[email protected]

(excuse the tk/geocities hosting) Also please bare in mind these examples are only fun maps and should I get the opportunity I can far surpass them!

I'm offering myself up! - I can do alot more than just map, although its my main skill.

So if you could do with a seasoned mapper, let me know - [email protected]

[AM] lame: do some SP maps out of your CS 1.6 projects! ^_^ As long as they're compatible with HL2,they're also playable in HL2:Substance. But I am also interested in a more specific kind of levels: VR Missions, like in Metal Gear Solid. They're horrible easy to produce: few skins for terrain (just different colors of the orange hammer one) with intelligent mixes of objects etc for a Tron feel, all floating in the sky. Simple stylish geometry with lots of action and ways to accomplish the usual "kill them all" mission. VR Missions, shortly. Too bad mappers are scared to be labeled as noobs if they try this...

you could join Reign which is an ancient mod during the reign of the roman empire.

Lmfao. :D

Xenos, a science fiction multiplayer mod, is interested in recruiting you. In Xenos, the player joins the team of either the beleagured human marines or the invading biomechanical terrors, the Xenos.

We've got a talented and dedicated team assembled, though at the moment we're still engrossed in the concept and design work rather than the actual creation. And yes, we DO have a coder, so we have the potential to go somewhere. We've also got a good sound effects technician who can make excellent gunshot sounds, bullet hits, etc, and a professional musician who is a former keyboardist in the band Foetal.

Like I said, we haven't begun actual work such as coding the engine yet, and we're only a bit of the way into the models because we're currently working out the design, classes and weapons, etc, but you could get started on a map right away since they take so long. I'm working as a level designer for the mod in addition to leader so I understand the mapmaking process.

You have freedom on where your first map is to be set - it could be in a rusted, destroyed settlement somewhere deep in the wasteland, a great sandy plain of nuclear and pollution damage, or it could be in one of the great cities of Earth, still bustling with movement even though they are the heart of a great battle. You could do an outpost on Mars, onboard a massive capital ship in space, where the humans are desperately fighting off a Xenos boarding party.

I've told more than I should in public about the modification right now, since we've not yet officially announced the mod, or released any media or information, but if you'd like to get in touch with me, via PM here, email, AIM, or MSN, about working on this mod, then I'd be happy to talk to you.

Ennui, have you looked at his maps?
No offence, but they need some work.

They're decent, and they show two things:

1) He can still learn and improve.
2) He's capable of finishing a map, which many people never seem to do.

I've seen people with less experience than him make excellent maps, given the time.

And, if he's dead weight, he'll be asked to leave the mod.

Yeah, because i looked at the first couple maps, and they looked plain, but then like at the they were getting better, but hey...

I am aware of my maps not being steam standard, but they are only fun maps created for fun, hence they are fairly quick builds. If theres a reason behind it I can much improve the standard.

Also I'm sorry but I'm more looking for further developed mods, thanks for your interest though and if you ever need a map wen the mods nearly done or for a re-release let me know.

no offence mate but your not likely to get into further developed mods due to that fact that they probably have everyone they need (which explains why their further developed :) )

plus the difference between making a fun map and a fully finished map might be more profound than you think

u can check out my mod it is in my sig, we are just starting up and need some help mapping, pm me if u r interested. we have one mapper, but another one would really help out.

lol "we need help cuz we suck at modding" thats sure to attract people

ok ok, basically I dont want to put in x amount of hours a week, only for the map to never get further than my hard drive. I just meant no timewasters. I am aware of the difference between fun maps and quality maps, and please dont assume Im not.

I look only for a mod to map for, not critics.

yeah idc wat ur talents r, if u can make a room in hammer with a window and a railing then it is fine with me, maps are really the only part of my mod that needs to be done, besides the animations for weapons, and i dont care how long u work on the maps u can just do it whenever u want.

Maps are everything for a mod.

well i wouldnt say everything, storyline, gameplay elements, models, ambience are just a few things that would make a really good game.

Yes, but maps are very important also. I could go on, but i will stop here.

You cant expect to join a team that is further along unless people have joined them in their early stages to get there. Those people who do that usually have great skill and can see passed the fog of starting out, because they know they can improve it.

If you cant commit to any mod that wants you to join them, then how does any one know you're worth inviting.

You say you can improve your maps, I believe theres only room for improvment in this case.

Im not trying to flame you, but what you've showed us is not very good, and you cannot pick and choose so easily with screen shots of maps like this.

Isnt it possible mods have the ability to improve as you say you can?

That's a bit of a double standard.

No offense, but don't puff up and act like you belong on a great team, simpley because you say you can do better, but only have proof of what you've done, and lacking.

(This isnt exactly directed at you Lame, Im just tired of seeing so many people think highly of themselves, and this is the the straw for me)

chill people

people i said before - i have enough critics, forums arent designed to give unhelpfull critisism. if your not anything to do with a mod in the making you have no reason to post. Im happy to join a mod in production, and thats the point, action!

I have better things to do than say anything but Im here if a mod wants me, I dont want any other advice, just to work with a mod.

thanks

hey operation world defense could use another mapper. you would mostly be helping our other mappers along in the singleplayer campaign but you would also be doing some multiplayer mapping if you want. If you cant handle singleplayer maps (mostly just environment and details, we have someone for the technical parts). drop me a line or visit http://sdsource.hlgaming.com

note:there arent any renders on the site yet because im still in the process of detailing most of the models. if you have any questions feel free to ask.
