I'm planning to buy a 1 TB external HDD for my laptop, as the 320GB drive (minus pre-installed backup partition) is definitely not enough.
I've decided to go with Western Digital, but now am wondering whether to get the Desktop or My Book Essential (which is slightly more expensive). The WD website would indicate that the latter is better, as it has features such as auto-backup and password encryption. But on the other hand, the place where I'm buying it from says that Desktop has 64 MB cache, while My Book has only 8 MB cache - information that I cannot verify on the WD website, as I could not find it there.
So, if Desktop really has 8x more cache, does that make a significant difference, because tbh I don't know whether such difference is noticeable (I don't know the cache sizes for any of the HDDs I own(ed))?
What do you guys think, which one should I get?
