External lan Card

Does any one know of any decent cheap external 1 gig lan cards that i can get my hands on?!

Does newegg sell them? I don't know anything about external lan cards but I know newegg has low prices.

Well its not really for me, just moved into the dorms at uni and a mate of mine dosnt seem to have a lan card built into his laptop, so he needs to get one to get onto the network

Oh, you're looking for a PCMCIA card then... and you won't need a 1GB card... If they make them for PCMCIA (which I don't think they do, as GigE is usually used for servers), it will horrendously expensive, and he'll be lucky to have a 100MB link at a college anyways (it'll probably be 10MB).

So yeah, you'd be looking for a PCMCIA ethernet card, which I'm sure you can find pretty cheap anywhere.
