F.E.A.R: Extraction Point demo tomorrow

Wasn't too impressed with FEAR and the lackluster level design.

God damnit, that's awe-SUM. Looking forward to it.

the level design/story was forgetable but the combat was fun

F.E.A.R. is one of the coolest games ever! this is gonna be good. oh mighty combat :)

Singelplayer or Multiplayer? (to lazy to check it out right now, DL tomorrow)

They'd better have made some optimisations to the engine. I don't want to play a slideshow again.

Even on my 9600XT I could play the game without the slideshow option. And people saying even the top of the line computers can't play it on all max settings...mine does..

what were you playing with? \=

Well expansions tend to be more focused in gameplay then their parent games. Such as ROE and D3. Anyhow, there's no harm in trying the demo.

I doubt it took them this long just to add more gameplay. I mean, they already have the engine built. They just need to create any new materials (weapons, levels, enemies, etc.), then script the story together, and there you go. So hopefully some engine modifications have been made, perhaps even new features.

I played it on a Pentium 4 3.4GHz, 1024 MB DDR2 533Mhz with a GeForce 6800 256MB and it ran pretty horrible. Utterly vile mouse sensitivity while you're looking around, it's nowhere close as smooth as Half-Life 2. It's more jerky and unresponsive making it hard to aim. Bah. :/

I'm not sure what yer getting at malfunction. I simply meant Eps have more focused gameplay, which is a good thing. I didn't imply that they didn't have time to work on the engine.

I really hate the engine FEAR runs on. Not even sure which it is, but it's just... meh.

Well I have a Pentium 4 3.2GHz dual core, 2048 MB DDR2 and a NVidia X9700 GTX 500MB and it runs perfectly on ultra high setings:E .

oh yes i definatly gonna try this demo since i am going to get the game anyway.

the original demo ran horribly on my 512mb ram and 9700 so I didn't buy it
can't see myself getting the new demo

I can run fear with these specs on full graphics PLUS Fraps recording at 30 fps with sound without any noticable fps drops:

ATI Radeon 9600XT
1 GiG Ram
2.8 Ghz Pentium 4 Processor

I have another computer with ATi Radeon X600, 1 gig ram, AMD dual Core 3800+ and it runs even better (ofcorse).

However, other games using the same engine such as Criminal Origins was harder for my computer to run, it still ran good tho. So i dont really know why people with good computers are having problems...

I finished Fear a few weeks ago and im really exited to the following. I dont know if i should play the game using my projector again cause the image was several meters wide so if Alma showed up i would litterary see her at the corner of my eye almost where the door to my room is so that freaks me out! I have to turn my head to see whats on one side of the image :D

Man was this a surprise...I LOVED FEAR and i cant wait for the expansion.

Not bad.

I liked the story and atmosphere of the first one, although middle part dragged on a bit.

Running on an AMD64 3200+, 1gb ram, 6800GT and it ran smooth as silk on high.

Looking forward to the demo :)

PIV2,8Ghz, 1,5GB RAM and 6800GS FEAR runs smooth on high (even though for example BF2 on this card is nothing special in either high or medium)

Someone said something about engine optimizations I though. I guess I misquoted or misunderstood.

My hardware certainly struggled with the game, and I do agree with the abundant "un-inspired level-design"-criticism, but at the same time, when I finished the game I was left with a pretty strong craving for more.

.bog.

*Kicks computer*

Piece of shit. RUN THE DAMN THING!

Although FEAR doesn't live up to Half-Life 2 is any way shape or form (well no game does really), I actually really enjoyed FEAR, I thought it had great gunfights scenes and a bril slo-mo feature, plus i loved the spooky atmosphere. Read a preview of extraction point and apparantly you are now fighting your way to an extraction point (who could you have guessed that!), somewhere outside the city, and you are fighting like the remnants of the clone troops, plus yes that spooky child will be around again. Also, probably the coolest add-on will be this awsome new mini-gun weapon. Apparantly you come across a lot of cramped rooms full of troops, and its just awsome to go into slow-mo, and let rip with it! Apparantly its destroy the entire room, so cant wait!

I wonder if we'll get the minigun in the demo ;) Maybe we'll pick it up at the end and then the screen will fade to black - full game on October 24th, kthxbai.

for sure i am going to buy the game

fear was great experience

The day before my birthday. Excellent timing!

Got to try the demo, I suppose. At least Extraction Point is SP, that's good. FEAR's combat was awesome (AI + particle effects). Best firefights, of any game. I found most other stuff about the game rather weak though - poor level design in places, the story would be decent, but the storytelling was very poor.

Still, I am interested in at least the demo because of the AI. One can also hope the levels & storytelling would get better. What truly sucks is that I can't really enjoy games like this in MP :).

so...is it out yet? I cant find it on gamespot nor Gamershell!

It doesn't seem to be, but it should be. I wanna play it damnit!
