Hate U Newell!! Hate u Steam.
Is this the Future of PC gaming? Than im out of Here.

Valve=Microsoft - same s*it.... :flame:

no .. not really. they are quite different.

your inside-fanboy is telling you to make that association.

maybe fanboy but an angry one!

If STEAM =Future of Pc games then im hell out of here!!!!
Gabe Newell worked for big M that's explain everything he is soaked with STUPID ideas from head to toe. ;P

Holy hell nothing ever works perfectly. Websites go down for a few hours and no one complains. If you ever expected a system like Steam to work perfectly then you really need to do some research.

Its not like Steam will never work again, just give it a few hours and everything should be back to normal and you won't have anything to complain about.

nothing ever works perfectly ? i never have problems with games, and if there is, it's something simple.

I couldn't play Call of Duty when I bought it for over a week thanks to an anti-pirating measure that they built into the game that prevented it from running properly using my new DVD drive. I finally gave up and downloaded a no-cd crack and everything has been working fine up until now.

Fact is I never once complained about it, I never said the company that made it was stupid and I never said it was a stupid system. People are far too used to software and computer systems working perfectly out of the box, its stupid to assume that is how it should work just because everything has worked well up until now.

You also can't blame something for not working purely on the developers. If they have done something new then there is no way they can guarantee it will work perfectly right out of the box.

Well, I would call you an indifferent guy. Do you complain if somebody grabs your purse and gets away with it? Or do you just say, "oh my god, he must be in a need of money, hey no problem, take mine!"?

Sheesh

Steam isn't new at all, it has been around for several months now and being tested with CS and Halflife. New is, that you are required to have a spyware like Steam to run your offline games. Why isn't it asking for agreement before installing everything? Why isn't there a rollback or uninstall function for updates you never wanted? I don't want to play HL2 Deathmatch at all, for heaven's sake! I want to play the offline game I payed for.

Why do I need steam anyway if I got my copy from the local store??? Activation and registration could be done without it, easily.

Hello, I'm The Mulletmaker. When companies bend me over and **** me up the ass, I don't complain, I just take it. I rarely complain about anything. The only thing I bitch and moan about is when other people complain about getting ****ed by irresponsible companies. I mean, if I take it, you should too.

JUST LUBE UP AND LEARN TO ENJOY IT!

lol on another note from mulletmaker everyone will walk all over him for the rest of his life and continue ****ing him considering they get free money and when he buys something that doesnt work they dont have to deal with him cause he just takes it up the ass and loses the money and gets screwed.. so lets not go down his road aye

Steam is a very new system. Graphic systems have had years of work put into them and they still have many glitches. Steam is the first massive online distribution system of its kind so its only natural that it still has alot of bugs to work out.

The fact is you did agree to let steam install things to your computer, just read the EULA when you first installed steam.

There is no way they could allow for roll-backs, the same way you can't play on Blizzards Battlenet system unless you have the most recent patch.

You also don't have to play DM at all, it shows up as an extra game in the "play games" menu of steam and unless you double click on it then it won't start downloading at all.

1. My name has nothing to do with mullets.
2. Its called being relaxed and not having a short temper when it comes to allowing people and companies to make mistakes.
3. I don't like it when people get extremelly pissed off because they simply don't realize how much work gets put into these things and they just expect everything to work like magic.
4. We are on a forum where we are supposed to discuss these things.
5. I hope you had fun making an attempt at making me mad and making your opinions and everything you stand for look stupid and unapealing to everyone else.

Now I am not expecting you to understand that since it really takes a special moron to try and make fun of someone through impersonating them so I will say goodbye. :P

Even though I suspect you are just "The Mulletmaker" with a different account I might as well respond to the point you bring up. I bought HL2. I beat HL2. I enjoyed HL2. At the moment I can't play HL2 for what looks to be the next few hours. Valve will fix the problem and I can get back to playing HL2 and the new Death-match by tommorow most likely.

It looks to me like I didn't just give money away at all. :p

uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh............

yeah, dude,uh,i don't normally have a problem with "bugs" in games, when they like, crash my computer occasionally or skip a little or whatever, but what i do have a problem with is when i wait for a game for 5 years, check the system reqs,go "HOLY SH*T YES!!!!",pay $130 for it,take it home, install it (i don't mind the 3 hour wait on Steam to install),load the game, and then WHAM "failed to read memory blah blah blah"
THEN,15 days later, the promised patch is given,i try loading it up again,lo' and behold,it won't even open the game yet,my patience still holds,Steam's probably just crowded and they're gunna fix it.
They fix it.
Then i try opening the game again, and now i can't even play it for the usual 3 minutes before it crashes, now it crashes on the f**king loading screen.
I don't call this a "bug",i call this false f**king advertising, and infringement on the customers rights,so go get a dog up yer mate.

The first bug is: No possibility to deny or rollback an update for an OFFLINE game. I don't want to play HL2 on a server, I want to play it OFFLINE. Thus, my version number of HL2 should be irrelevant. There is no need to have the same version as all other peeps in the world.

So far steam worked for me, but I don't like the Orvell'ish look it gives to my system. I'm using antispy software to be free of ad- and spyware and here comes Valve, forcing me to use one, if I want to play HL2. This was he last time I purchased something from Valve.

And, as a sidenote: The EULA you have to accept when installing the software is irrelevant in Germany. To be part of the contract you made with your vendor, it has to be accepted BEFORE purchasing the product. In my case, as using the retail version bought in a shop, this didn't happen.

My hint to all those cheering at Valve and steam: Join the Combine forces instead of the Rebels.
