Yet another game that Peter Molyneux promises will be really really neat. Really neat like being able to get married, have kids, and buy every building in the world for absolutely no reason with no game changing results? Maybe. However, I have faith. There is gold buried in Fable. This time we're promised everything that was promised before, and more, without any pointless extras. I also have it under good authority that the game will be really really neat.

Oh, and this time we get proper co-op.

It sounds cool but the start menu thing sounds wierd. My understanding is that it takes you out of the game and puts you in another room where you change you clothes, armour and stuff. I hope it doesn't take away from the immersion :/

I love Fable, but i'll wait for reviews and opinions this time. I bought Fable 2 on it's release and was disappointed.

Unfortunately the PC version is going to be delayed, which bummed out some PC people. Microsoft didn't tell why they delayed it, but I am hoping that it's to help optimize it some more for the PC. But some are fearing that it could be a second "Alan Wake", where the PC is delayed without an ETA, then later the PC version is downright canceled. Which I don't think will happen, but with Microsoft you never know.

Fable is a really shitty franchise, why it is mildly popular I have no idea.

I am really liking the sublte pro-veg references in these games. I liked how eating tofu and veggies in Fable 2 got you the Good points and kept you svelte and meat-eating got you Evil points and made you fat. I like how this intro depicts the suffering of a chicken in Albion which parallels the suffering of chickens in our world. Billions of them are trapped in cages their whole lives. All male chicks that hatch are instantly euthanized in a maceration device similar to the crusher seen in this vid. They endure all manner of horror and pain and fear only to end up dead on someone's plate for a few seconds of sensory pleasure before they are shit out. Such is the life of a chicken in modern times and in Albion.

Oh, and Fable sucks. Fable 2 got me all excited and then BLEW. I will not be fooled again.

I thought tofu made you fat as hell. There's a reason why I never eat it in game. I just sell it or something. Eating normal meat doesn't give you bad points either, unless you mean eating whole live baby chicks. Which is pretty bad.

The first Fable I liked quite a bit, but never owned. Then I bought Fable 2 and was dissapointed.

I think you have your facts mixed up here.

I rather liked the themes of Fable. But gamewise it's terrible.

Ah, HL2.net, where above average and competent becomes worst game ever!!!!11

I was disappointed in Fable 2 too, but mainly because of the promises that weren't delivered on. As a simple action adventure it was pretty good. My biggest gripe was the crappy co-op. When joining a friends game you had to play a generic character and had to stay within the same screen! You also couldn't aim in first person. Apparently in Fable 3 you can each play with your own charatcer and run around with relative freedom - this alone makes it a must buy for me.

Fable 2 was a lot of walking down the same paths while killing the same enemies which appeared in the same places but with the option of doing it with a different hat on each time. Oh, and you had a dog.

Hahahahha! Love the part about the hat. It's funny because its true.

ya pretty much this. I liked fable 2 and will probably purchase fable 3

I haven't played Fable 2 and Molyneux's own criticism of it isn't pushing me toward ever doing so. That said, I thought the first game was very enjoyable. Sure, it wasn't spectacular and it certainly wasn't what Molyneux advertised it to be (what ever is?), but it definitely isn't as bad as some of you cretins are making it out to be.

I gotta be honest. I had about 6 hours of fun with Fable 2. Then I realized that it's actually terribly boring. Contrast this with Dragon Quest IX where I have had around 80 hours of fun and show no signs of coming close to stopping. The clear bang-for-one's-buck winner is DQ9. Fable 2 just never seemed to redeem itself. Those 6 hours were pretty fun, but not can't-wipe-the-smile-off-my-face fun. Oh well.

Dragon Quest 9 has more costumes doesn't it?

Bang-for-buck isn't everything, but yeah I got bored of Fable 2 really quickly. It seemed a lot less cohesive than Fable 1, probably because they were trying so hard to fulfill the promise of an open, living world from the first game.

Oh yeah. It's got effing TONS of combinations of gear. My party looked pretty boring for a while until I started making/finding the exceptionally bizarre gear. My party looks like a bunch of demented circus freaks now which is awesome.

Bang-for-buck isn't everything
I hear you. There are some games that are so well-made that the 6 or 8 hours it takes to complete them is an incredible tour-de-force. God of War 3 is one of them imho. It was relatively quick but there was NO time wasted at all. It was a brutally intense and awesome ride and well worth the price of admission. But yeah, Fable 2 was not one of those games. It was 6 or 8 hours alright, but they were fairly mediocre hours. :(

Each to their own. I thought it was above average. What really let Fable 2 down - more than failing to deliver on grand promises - was the butchered co-op mode. Mark my words, though!- if Fable 3 gives us proper co-op that lets us play as our own characters in a friends game, without restrictions, it's going to be one of the most fun things you'll play that year. If they sort out the rest, that's gravy ;)

Hopefully F3 will be more challenging than F2. F2 felt like press 'x' to win for the whole game.

Mr. Molyneux, please, stop making strange promises and stop behaving like you are some sort of design messianic guru. Just tell you are trying to make good games, and you'll be okay.

Fable has always been just dumb fun. I think Pete's whole problem is that he stays super excited about whatever project he's currently working on and really tries to implement whatever shiny idea pops into his head at the time and it just doesn't really pan out the way he imagined due to limitations in time, technology, finances, or any combination of those. That said, I enjoyed Fable 2 more than the first one, and the only real gripe about it was the extremely lacking co-op, but it looks like they've gone and fixed that. I'm still not seeing where the 6-8 hours of gameplay remarks are coming from, unless it's just plowing through the main plot and doing literally nothing else, in which case you're likely better off not playing any western rpgs that have been released in the past decade or so.

I'm ashamed to admit I've just pre-ordered the Collector's Edition of this, it's only like 10 euro more expensive but has several extra in-game sections, quests etc, so I figured it was worth it.

*Prepares to be mocked*

STOP ****ING BUYING GAMES.

Jesus christ, Gargantou. You're your own worst enemy, you know. :p

Yeah I know, but I'm getting better, there's a ton of games that come out this year that according to reviews were average that I still wanted to get but didn't, such as Naughty Bear.:p

I want the collector's edition as well, but I don't want to do an extra $20 right off.. Besides, all the extra gameplay crap will likely be in the first dlc package, though that coin would be a spiffy item to have.

I agree with the "dumb fun" statement. I enjoyed myself quite a bit with Fable II and expect the same with III.
