Old geezer... :p

Sorry had to say it.

In recent news, President Bush was chosen as the People's Choice for President.

You sure jumped to Frances defense quickly... despite there being no offense.

He hates its government and the people that support it, not the people!

Then why does he say such things as...

Should such an ignorant people lead the world? How did it come to this in the first place? 82 percent of us don't even have a passport! Just a handful can speak a language other than English.
Michael Moore

There's a gullible side to the American people. They can be easily misled. Religion is the best device used to mislead them.

White people scare the crap out of me.

I like America to some extent.

OLD.

Besides, half the country (read, 50%) /= "People's Choice".

Is it a good movie?
I couldn't say, not having seen it.
However, I'm sure it was a much more worthy candidate for the presidency than George Bush. :p

Movie for president! Movie for president!

Heh, I find that funny, since he's always telling people they're getting quite defensive.

Speaking of being overly defensive...

seinfeldrules quoting Mike Moore said:

Look at the context. He didn't say "all americans are stupid".
He said "americans in general lack knowledge of the outside world". His argument isn't baseless. 82 percent have never left the country, and far more than that cannot understand any foreign language.
Seems pretty solid to me.

It's like if I said "Americans are sex machines" and everyone got offended, until they read the rest of the quote: "because statistics show the average american buys 400 condoms an hour." Not so wrong in that fictional example after all, am I?

Since you posted the other quotes without context, I can't explain them to you. But they're pretty clearly jokey self-references in the vien of 'white men can't jump'.
Ten bucks says each of those statements is followed by some rationale, probably statistical, that validates them.

If fact-supported self-referential humour is "hatred for america", what do you call a terrorist's "death to Amerikkka burn the infidels" shpiel?
Smells like over-reaction to mild criticism.

I need all those condoms. Anything less is too few!

Then again, this is taken out of context. Many states in the United States are bigger than entire European countries. Most have their own distinct culture. Ex. the South compared to the North, East to West.

I would propose that visiting California is about the same experience as a German visiting Switzerland, or someone from France visiting England etc. The whole makeup of our continents are different.

not one of you dunderheads looked beyond the photo did you? ..why? why do I bother? you have an opportunity to educate yourselves on a different viewpoint/philosophy but instead you squander it by focusing all of your energy on formulating something based on the lowest common denominator: an age based joke ..I'm surprised you didnt call me "four-eyes" or "skinny".

I sincerely hope some of you are not representative of today's youth because if that's the case our future is bleak indeed

but then there's young people like Mechagodzilla, neutrino, sprafa, kangy, bliink, qckbeam ..and a whole whack of young members I'm surely missing here, that restore my faith in our future .....ahhh that made me feel better :)

Are you Kidding me? Have you ever been to Germany or Switzerland, they are entirely different countries, different history, culture and way of life. Its not like going from Virginia to California. Have you ever been to two different countries in Europe? From your statement it sounds like you never have. They all have mostly entirely different cultures. People in Spain are nothing like the French. Please leave this thread until you know what you are talking about.

Wait a second... wait a damn moment. How did you know I didn't read anything on that website? Do you have the ability to know whether I did or not? I spent a good little while on that webpage, and the only REASON I made the age joke, was because I wanted to make a stupid joke based on a past relavent conversation we had! For the love of (no)god man, develop a thicker skin. It's in my personality to make friendly jabs at people I associate with, and thats what that was... a friendly jab. What would make you think it was anything other than that?

Sometimes you take things just a little too seriously, and resort to serious minded name calling and personality attacks.

Do you still feel better?

While I agree with you, I also agree with Seinfeld. He's right about the significant cultural difference. The only real similarities you might find when going from certain states to certain states, is the law, and the language. Language means nothing, and neither does the law, since many countries across the globe share the same laws and languages. People from spain speak spanish, and so do those from mexico and Columbia. But they're nothing alike.

Many of the states have distinct cultural differences, as much difference as you can get from being a part of the same government and country.

<chuckles> It wasn't the WORD you used, it was the tone you used. You essentially called us all idiots in your post, all because you 'assume' we didn't read anything on that website. Which in my case, wasn't true.

And I know you weren't only talking about me, but the brunt of your assault was aimed at me.

I said the difference in culture between Spain and Frence or any two other countries in Europe is nothing like the differnce in culture between any two states in the US. I know this as a fact as I have visited many countries in Europe, both country side parts and city areas. The people are so much more different.

Maybe because they are many hundreds of years older culturally wise :)

That would be my guess.

nah, you just happened to be in the line of fire :E

this has been going on for months: I post a whole bunch of relevant stuff and I'm ignored .. no debate, no discussion, nothing ...it's as if they just cant answer without agreeing with me ...it later materializes as little jabs and off-hand comments that never have anything to do with the issue at hand cuz that might provoke me into a further diatribe on the same tired issues ..it's really getting annoying
