Sources say a man burnt his leg trying to ignite explosives on the jet, which had 278 passengers and 11 crew aboard, but nobody else was seriously hurt.

It is a good thing the attempt failed. The guy must feel stupid, with a burnt leg to show for his efforts.

theres some people that deserve the death penalty and theres some that don't. since he failed he should be put down and harvested for organs and then he'll gain both martyrdom and redemption at the same time
 
Anyway considering the guy tried to blow up a jet with him on it, I don't think he is going to suffer that much because of the death penalty. I mean the guy tried to blow himself up so why should the death penalty make him suffer? There are better ways to make him suffer me thinks.

I am opposed to the death penalty being a legal punishment a court can order.

But as it is a legal punishment, I hope they apply it in this case. **** that guy. Terrorists like him need to know their efforts will only end in failure, humiliation and then a cold, inglorious death in an American jail.

You are against the legalization of capital punishment, but for it's application when it's already legalized? Yeah, makes sense...

And since when are people in the States ever executed for attempted murder?

The guy should probably be held as a prisoner of war.
 
Any government that uses the death penalty as a form of punishment has some sort of twisted "I'M ****ING GOD" complex
 
They should make a youtube fail video out of him. Burnt leg and all.
 
I'm glad he failed in his attempt to blow up the jet, and I hope that he spends the rest of his life in jail so he will not try to do something like this again. I mean, he could've killed many people if he had been successful in his plot.
 
Because of this, I have to get to the airport a few hours earlier than my family originally planned tomorrow. I'm taking a flight from Louisville to Atlanta to Portland (Maine).

I just read a NYTimes article that said there may be further restrictions may be imposed on carry-on baggage, and that there will be greater restrictions imposed on in-flight behavior, including not being able to use personal items/devices during the last hour of flight. The TSA hasn't said anything about these restrictions, but Air Canada said for passengers to expect these things.

On topic, this terrorist attempt doesn't sound like it has been planned very well, for a long time, or by many people. It just sounds really stupid.

This guy getting capital punishment is too good. The guy gets martyrdom and terrorists use his death then for propaganda. Put him in jail for the rest of his life. He deserves to be forgotten. Also a little bit of background info on the guy.

I actually do. I know that increasingly Jihadists are not coming from impoverished background but are now coming from well educated Middle Class backgrounds. Osama Bin Laden used to study Civil Engineering and his father was a construction tycoon or something and Ayman -al- Zawahiri his second in command studied medicine and should have been a well known doctor in Egypt by now. Al Qaeda also gains the bonus of utilizing their skills for example software engineers. So yes I do have some sort of idea how radicalism works.

I'm just stating that if he was poor, it would have been a little understandable him doing these things because he has no hope in his life. This was not the case here. This guy's family is rich and he had hope in his life. I still think it was pretty idiotic of him to throw all that away. But as the organisation of Al Qaeda indicates, there are more idiots like him.

^I endorse this idea and/or event. He should die a slow agonizing death first though.

What's the point of the death penalty in this case? I mean, unless they harvest him for his organs and suck out every drop of blood to give to kids suffering from cancer, it'd be like punishing attempted suicide by hanging until dead.


Wait, my idea sounds good. You could also try making him work in a salt mine for 16hrs a day for the rest of his miserable and rather short life. Then harvest his organs.

I believe that punishment should be fitting and also beneficial to society. I'm OK with the idea of the death penalty (albeit a bit... disturbed) but not unless there's a better use for him.



To summarize: If I was the judge, I would: #1. Make him dig trenches in Afganistan

#2. Put him to work in a coal mine

#3. Harvest his internal organs OR Do experiments on him for the good of all mankind

#4. Donate his brain to science

#5. Suck the body dry of anything valuable

#6. recycle anything left over.
