Here it is. (Link Updated)

I hope you like it more than my fake Scout, Soldier, and 2nd Medic updates. Don't worry, I doubt I'll make another one of these, because I'm all out of ideas.
 
Weapons are Fubar, the Achievements are boring.
 
I personally enjoyed reading it. At what intervals would the weapons appear?

Not sure we need three wrenches though. The combat one seems the least useful.
 
Yeah, not too bad. Combat wrench is fairly dumb. Why does it have half crit rate when it's also disadvantaged at building? Shotgun is silly too, if I'm understanding it right. Nail gun should be swapped out with shotgun, an accurate long distance repair weapon is pretty overpowered, especially when standard pistol is already fairly useless compared to the shotgun. The decoy dispenser should definitely damage every other class, the spy rarely goes for the dispenser first anyway, once the update hits they just never will. I really like the kill counter, I would love it if Valve tossed that in there.

Well, the normal wrench has a history of always doing crits on the Spy. If the Combat Wrench had the normal crit chance, it seems like it would be horribly overpowered to Spies.

I know, but I thought the "R" stood for "repair", though.
 
I mean, the normal wrench already is incredibly overpowered to spies. An unecessary wrench that's made for combat and is not much better at combat than the standard seems dumb. Both recognition and repair are used, military slang isn't very standard.
 
The update page looks good though, what font is the TF2 font?
 
I really like the decoy dispenser idea. Would be pretty awesome to see a spy get blown up like that.

The two fonts I used are simply called "TF2" and "TF2 Build". You can find them in this directory.

Dispensers in TFC used to be detonatable, doing damage to foes in a short range. The first thing I tried to do in TF2 was bind a key to detonate my dispenser, but unfortunately I found it does no damage :(

Dispensers that could be remotely detonated would be awesome in TF2. They make excellent defensive devices for blowing up things that come around a corner.
 
I like some of it but really only one wrench upgrade should be considered, the building one. And the multiporter isn't that great considering the downsides in comparison to a level 3 regular.
 
I love your fake updates. If only Valve took notice.

Cool, I always needed that font at all the wrong times. :bonce:
 
Weapons are crap and you obviously ran out of ideas by putting in the 4 Secret achievements - Only 360 designers do that to be gay or to hide spoilers.

Someone posted a decoy dispenser idea, and along with a larger explosion (which kills whatever class is near) it also was visually sweet.

Crude cardboard structure with general dispenser shape. The pocket which usually has ammo is overflowing with dynamite, and dispenser is crudely written in crayon at the top. Obviously it only appears that way to allies.

If Valve puts decoy dispenser as an unlock, it better as **** look like that.
 
There are some hidden achievements for HL2 and Episode Two. So it's not like it's not something Valve hasn't done before.
 
Yeah, the engineer update could have a shitload of spoilers, so don't jump to conclusions.
 
I like the achievements.
I never play TF2 anymore though.
 
Hm, I like the no-leech idea for dispensers.

Making critical hits twice as rare but also more powerful seems a bit odd. Seems like the Combat wrench could have done with half of the stats changes is actually has.

I though of an idea similar to the nail gun myself, but on reflection I think it's not a great idea and it would only be useful in pretty specific circumstances.

Ol' bucky is a decent idea. Nothing much special about it. I prefer the idea that's been floating around for a while; a shotgun that leeches ammo off enemy to transfer it to the engies metal reserve more.

Laser sentry is interesting. Especially having two independant guns. This allows it to aim at two enemies at once, correct?

Decoy dispensor takes away some teamplay from the engineer and seems to only serve the purpose of getting back at those pesky spies sappin' mah [strike]sentry[/strike] dispensor.

Multiporter doesn't seem as good as a level 3 teleporter.

Kill counter is a fun idea. It must match the one from Meet the Engineer though.
 
Not bad. The unlockable descriptions were awkwardly worded, though. I don't like most of the unlockables.

Wrenches: The "using the wrong wrench damages your buildings" mechanic discourages Engineers helping each other out. I don't want to try to help out a hurt sentry only to accidentally destroy it because I had the wrong wrench equipped. Also, the building wrench is pretty unbalanced. As described, you can get up a lvl1 sentry in 2.5 seconds and almost fully heal any building in one hit. Also, the wrench is already as good a melee weapon as any other in the game. Past updates do much more interesting things with the unlocks than changing their damage output -- refill a class-specific stat, always crit under certain conditions, temporary kritz.

Nail gun: Good idea, but it sounds like it repairs slow enough that I'd stick with pistol.

Ol' Bucky: The current shotgun's weakness is its firing rate, not its damage output. It seems strange to go even further in that direction. I like the name, though.

Laser-powered sentry: I'm confused. Lasers don't have a firing rate -- they're a beam of light, and you certainly can't outrun a laser. Did you mean its turning speed is slower? I don't think I like it, but I don't really understand it.

Decoy dispenser: There'd better be some way for a spy to tell the difference or a decent delay before the explosion, otherwise this is unfair for the spy.

Multiporter: Not as good as a fully upgraded tele.

Kill counter: Heck yeah.

Achievements: You could get almost all of these in a few games. It'd be better to leave more harder ones to work towards. There should be one to encourage using your shotgun alongside your sentry. I think there's a few too many achievements centering around spies, "Let's See Some ID" and "Restraining Order" seeming superfluous. I think there should be an achievement for getting kills while dead (like Pyro had).

Meet the Team: BLU: Could be fun. After they finish all the classes, of course.
